  1. Got most of my bits and pieces. Gonna be moving the car home wed and should hopefully have the engine and trans cleaned up and bolted in same day as well as some chassis work done. I'm gonna make a full build thread after I get to work. I hope it all goes easily.
  2. Just ordered clutch parts, brake parts, and engine mounts.... getting closer.
  3. Thanks for the clarification Mike, ill be sure to keep those hooked up when it goes together. Otherwise, i dont think i have any of the throttle linkage stuff in the car.... might be in the box o crap that came with it. If not i might look into a universal cable kit i can make work.
  4. awesome thanks. that helps a lot. seeing as this came off 510 with an L20, how different would the linkage be? In my searches, i read that a throttle cable would be better but would have to be fabbed up which i dont thing would be a problem.
  5. So i picked up my car in a million pieces. didn't get a carb at all. so i dont have much of a clue on what to do with it lol. Anyway, i picked up a Weber 32/36 off an L18 for my L16. I got the adapter plate with it. It'll use some cleaning, but i dont know what i need to get it going. Here is the throttle linkage as far as i can tell. And im pretty sure i know where the fuel in/out is. Fuel. What i dont know is what the blocked off lines on the manifold are for, or the T that comes off it with the hose sticking up. Im also not sure what to do about the throttle. I dont think i have the stock linkage, so go cable? Idk what i need for either. Any help is appreciated.
  6. thats the likely route. im just trying re-use what i can to get it done sooner. Ill be pulling all this back out for a more modern platform hopefully within a year or two anyway. The pressure plate does seem to be at the end of its road though lol. the disc is trash without question. It was stuck to the pressure plate when i pulled it.
  7. just a heads up for anyone happening upon this thread. i ordered cheap coilover sleeves to use just for now and they didn't slide over the strut tube easily. the description said 2" 1/6mm which i mistook for 2 1/6".... So ill have to force them on or bore them out a little.
  8. Started pulling the strut inserts apart for cleaning. My coilover sleeves wont even go on over all the rust and dirt. Should fit better after i hit it with a wire wheel. Also got some goodies in the mail gotta get the flywheel cleaned up and maybe lightened a little bit. Not sure if the pressure plate is salvageable or if i should just get a full clutch kit for it. Also have to figure out this carb lol. having trouble finding much info on throttle linkage and such since i get my car in pieces so i dont have much reference. Should be able to move the car home soon so i can get it together ASAP
  9. Got to do some work today. I realized the box of random parts this thing came with had a trans mount in it, as well as what looks to be an electronic distributor. Got the chassis rolling a little better but im missing the driver side tension arm so ill need to find one of them or order a set. Cut the perches off the zx struts but i have to bring the setup to work to break the but holding the insert in place so i can start putting the coilover set on. Just need it to roll well and to look even at least lol. Im also not sure if i should be using the stock 510 top hat or if i have to order something. Got a flywheel/clutch setup on its way as well as a Weber card. Soon enough ill be able to start piecing it together. Also, are the stock Zx springs and top hats worth anything? might try to sell them off for a couple bucks to help move this along faster. Thanks for looking in.
  10. Ha! i was always the new kid in class for getting kicked out of the last school for not being so nice lol It gets pretty crazy. most of the time its deliberate trolls or people just being assholes because they can.... you know, the internet gangster types. You know from experience?
  11. I can screen shot if necessary lol. I've spent a majority of my time on s-chassis forums so I consider myself battle hardened and not too optimistic.
  12. So ive been on a ton of forums for different chassis' ive owned and nowhere has been as positively responsive as this place. I put up a simple WTB after doing my homework and got a bunch of replies about places to look, what to look for, and found someone with the parts i needed for a great deal. The EXACT opposite of what usually happens on most other forums. Pretty awesome community here. Cant wait to contribute to it myself.
  13. Ordered collars and cheap coilovers/sleeves to get the front end together. Should have either a weber on the way the end of the week or may some SU carbs if my brothers buddy comes through. CAN NOT WAIT. Pics to come when i get everything and get to work on the zx front end stuffs.
  14. awesome thanks. Im stuck keeping my project in a storage unit where i cant do much work to it so i have to have all my ducks in a row before i start turning wrenches.
  15. This thread has some awesome info on it for sure. I read the inner diameter of anything for 280zx struts should be 2" like these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003E7E9SU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1427247326&sr=1-1&dpPl=1&dpID=41LNObMi4NL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SY200_QL40 So I assume those would work as perches for coilover sleeves. Also, a coilover/sleeve set would need to be a hair over 2" then to slide on and work properly. Correct? I would use the 510 stock perch but I didn't get the passenger spring so ill have to go the extra step to coilover sleeves.
