  1. Oh, and i might add that the aftermarket cam sprocket does not have the v notch on the backside which is supposed to line up with the mark on the camshaft retainer plate.
  2. Howdy gentleman. Been a while since i been on here, broke some rings in my l20b a few years ago and i'm now finally getting around to putting an engine back together for my pick up. So, getting ready to put the timing chain on and I'm having trouble finding the specs on how to set the cam timing. I've done this before as the spring loaded tensioner flew apart once before so i put a wholoe new timing chain set up in it, sprockets and all. But, now I can't seem to find the resource I used before or even were i wrote it all down. With the engine at top dead, which hole ( 1,2 or 3) does the camshaft dowel pin need to be in on the cam spocket and how many links need to go between the tooth marked respectively on the cam sprocket and the marked tooth on the crank spocket? Thanks in advance for any help
  3. Alrighty, that's what I needed to know. Thank ya. Looks like that might have to wait a bit. Got to have the truck back on the road monday so looks like it may get a redneck fix for a week or two
  4. So going down the highway the other day and my engine started missing pretty bad around 70. got home, did some work found a lot of oil in the intake. Long story short I tracked it back to the vent tube that comes out of the crankcase and found that the screen that is supposed to be in the case to keep oil from going into the intake wasn't there. Instead I found that the person who had the truck before me had used a piece of burlap which obviously has deteriorated at this point. Now i was figuring I can replace it with some window screen I've got laying around but my question is, how are you supposed to put it back in there? I'm assuming from the looks of things i'll have to drop the oil pan to get to that spot but i'm not sure. Can't find anything on the internet where someone else has had the same problem. Any help would be greatly apreciated
  5. What did that steering wheel come out of?
  6. Not sure if I'm going to keep the L20b in it or not, but if I do, are they're any after market intake options out there? I was going to make one but only thing is it's got the coolant ports to the head that go through it
  7. There's some under the hood pics to. It's a bit dirty cuz as of this moment its my work truck but that's going to change starting saturday
  8. I have a few th350's laying around but i was also trying to get some gas milage out of it which is why I was leaning towards trying to find a 5 speed. But like you said, they're not easy to find and tend to be pricy when you do
  9. Here's my rig. The black dots all over the bed where my drunk buddies attemp at stoping the bed rust. Anyhow, The dash used to be the same coolor as the steering wheel, I sanded it and painted it. Up till the heat this summer it did fine. Then started the cracks. Also the plastic around the steering column was so caulky that once i cleaned it up it was pretty rough. Even after painting it still looks like shit. I want to have a black steering wheel on it also so those are probably the main reasons besides the need to redo wiring that i want to go with a plain jane clean steering colum. It will go with the theme idea I've got in my head for the truck. Kinda thinking a finished rat rod look.
