  1. All the bores spec out according to the machine shop! Forged pistons dont seem all that easy to come by dont really want to stamp it out to 89mm i like all the meat in the cylinder walls i can get i heard vg30 pistons fit though
  2. Alright so made it to drag races last month ran a 1.83 60 ft time but my 1/8th was complete trash trans doesn't like to shift into second when making power so dont know where to go from here as far as trans goes may look into the hydraulics maybe needs bleeding or something all has been replaced master, slave, clutch. As my luck goes my second pass I line it up wont go into second finally get in 2nd truck pulls hard falls on its face wasn't making any boost come to find out i melted the waste-gate diaphragm annoyed at this point i pull the wastegate back and wire it shut i know  why would i do this!! So i line up for my last pass decided i will launch it in 2nd gear this time and avoid my 1st to 2nd debacle truck made 25lbs of boost flew like a bat out of hell felt really good went into 3rd went slightly lean about 15.2 afr melted rings lands on 2 and 4 brought it home tore it apart bought new pistons AGAIN had the block checked out re honed machinist says to open up my ring gaps so i have done according to his match .0017 on top ring .0018 on second ring much larger than stock gap purchased arp head studs (ive put about 6-7 head gaskets on this truck) ka24e turbo manifold ported the exhaust side of the head for it and ported the manifold they didn't sell the manifold with a t28 flange only t3 so i have to use an ugly adapter but i prefer to keep the turbo as far away from the head as possible im assuming the heat is really doing a number on the exhaust side head bolts seeings how 3 of the 5 broke on the exhaust side on removal the turbo is much further from the head so i think there will be benefits all the way around! Long story short if you plan on boosting a z22/24 either run lower boost level 6-7 psi for a daily maybe 10psi for a weekend warrior unless you have a better than average wallet thickness hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes seeings how there all posted here pics to come soon! truck will be completely assembled tomorrow and driving again one thing i will say about these engines is they have a damn bullet proof bottom end never has this engine knocked All my problems come from the top end! Pic is day before races
  3. Got a few new videos to upload to my youtube will post on here once i get a chance to! Trucks running really well on 18psi with a gas/ethanol blend of fuel lots of timing got a ls3 240sx by a length and a half on the highway truck scary fast for a 82 Datsun with stock brakes and stock suspension and a smoked brake booster thanks to the new turbo thats way to close to it! Anyone know of a company that sells a COMPLETE Urethane busing kit for a 720? Rather get a kit and replace it all at once!
  4. The carb is mostly hangar 18 mods but i wanted to make it work with out drilling pvcrs or iab's any of that stuff so if i ever wanted to use the carb n/a i could the adapter i used is this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-1937?seid=srese1&gclid=CjwKEAjwycaqBRCSorjE7ZewsmUSJABWzM54wcb35VyF37bg9TyxPnL5pPiwOeU9DbnQIRqjzAAJwRoCcnzw_wcB You can get this adapter from napa/ oreilly's most all parts stores!
  5. Need to get up some real vids here soon gonna have to devise a way to mount my camera and make some good pull videos on 15lbs i ran with an ls3 240sx night before last and got him by a fender length!
  6. The cap is vented so everything vents just fine!
  7. Have you seen these dog bolter very interesting especially if you dont wanna alter your tank at all http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mor-65385 Mine is made up like this though in case you wanna give this a try I think my Y was 2 <7/16"> to 1 <1/2">
  8. Ill get a few pics and videos for you tonight dogbolter whats your timing set at? Do you have an afr gauge i tell ya if i could go back and re-do i would buy an air/fuel gauge for every vehicle ive ever done any upgrades on has been a life saver since ive had it helped me chase multiple problems!
  9. The engine or the truck itself? I have images of both but the body is far from finished i kinda like the "sleeper look" Honda kids always give me a wierd look after they've been beat up on by an innocent looking datsun pickup! I use and aeromotive regulator the part number on it is 13301 I use the stock return line and the old vent line used a y an use both to return fuel back to the tank i also did not want to run a bigger hard line! With the stock return line i could get 14psi at the regulator now i cant get it down to 3psi which more then good enough because the holley asks for 7 psi! Imo a holley carb is the best way to go lots of support cheap parts easy to work on! If i could go back i would've bought a holley 350 2bbl cfm or a 390 cfm 4bbl for tuneability the 4bbl is high suggested i wanted to be able to daily this truck! and i have been for the last few months its idles great cruises great and runs like a raped ape when ya want her too
  10. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/64996-my-720-z22-turbo-build-pic-heavy/Heres my z22 turbo build thats actually finished have read a few that are just a dead end. Mike is right I ran stock pistons at 24 psi for about 2 weeks one lean spike and they were smoke. Rings went and #2 had the ring lands missing all the way around went with new coated pistons on 12 lbs. I can say for sure a Z motor isnt very happy with alot of boost always sounds like something is going to come apart. I have it very dialed on 12 psi motor is happier than ever with a nice crisp power band through all five gears! I have all the info ya need if ya plan on going with boost. A guys can build a very sweet z engine with a fat enough wallet that will love lots boost! Safe timing safe fueling and low exhaust temperatures are the keys to having a reliable turbo engine!
  11. Are u still buddies with him? If so id be interested in getting some pricing on a set of those pistons! Im going to convert to e85 this time so i can run less timing gonna run water/meth to so i can stay ultra safe!
