Hello, I bought a U521 from Costa Rica that is like yours. Do you still have it?

  2. I don't think you are going to have any luck finding the complete assemblies. That being said, you should investigate adapting Datsun 1200 tail lights as haye have most of the curves in the right places.
  3. Thank you. Been kind of busy, but have started back on the Datsuns. We plan to move back to Florida sometime after August. I plan to bring back the 521 and the 320. Surprisingly, there are only two forms to fill out in order to bring them back, both available online.
  4. Hi, just saw this. I just bought the last NOS pair of tail lights for my U521 at the local Datsun dealer and I paid the equivalent of $678 for the pair. They are unique to this body style. Bumpers are NLA, grille parts NLA, emblems are worth their weight in gold. Kind of disheartening. On the bright side, front bearings, both inner, outer and seals, are easy to find. I just did mine yesterday.
  5. Hi to all, it has`been `awhile since I posted here, but I lurk all of the time. I wanted to post a few photos of the March 2015 meet held here in Costa Rica. I've forgotten how to post photos directly, so I am posting links of a few vehicles that might be of interest. http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Langley/media/D2_zps91c7c6bu.jpg.html http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Langley/media/D2_zps91c7c6bu.jpg.html http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Langley/media/D2_zps91c7c6bu.jpg.html http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Langley/media/D2_zps91c7c6bu.jpg.html Our next meet is our 6th anniversary celebration on November 1st, i will take a few more photos and attempt to post them here correctly. I have been working on my 521 and my 320, but work takes me down to South America for weeks at a time and what spare time I have has to be prioritized. This site has been a wealth of information and I keep my computer with me whenever I'm working on my toys.
  6. Sweet if you can find it!
  7. Thank you both for the responses. I will look up my local junkyard while I am in Florida. The J series engine is even in some 620s down here. I received a phone call the other day from a guy wanting to sell me what he said was a J18 engine. I will try to go see it this weekend. I don't get too excited because if you ask, "Is it a Datsun J engine"?, the answer will always be, "Yes", even if it is a 3 cylinder two-stroke engine out of a Suzuki jeep.
  8. I've started rebuilding another J15 engine as a spare and the water outlet (thermostat housing) is eaten all the way through on the back side. This part is made of unobtanium locally. I'm headed to the States on 23 MAR, but only for three days and was wanting to know if any of you had a source. Any assistance is appreciated.
  9. I have seen a few 620 trucks with vent windows, but I'm pretty sure that the doors were brought in from Japan and Oz. I have a friend that imports cars and parts in order to keep these old vehicles supplied. I never really thought about it until now. Driver's doors wear out the fastest, so ones from RHD vehicles are usually in good shape. I have two back windows for the 521; it's those taillights that took me over a year to source. Around here, once the word gets out that you are looking for a particular part, you start to get calls, but with astounding prices. I am going to see about exporting it to my place in Birmingham, AL. I can ship to Miami, then drive it up.
  10. I'm figuring to make it worth my while to ship this to my place in the States, I would also ship the U620. I really don't care for its look and I would love to have the fun tickets to properly fix up the U320. I'm going to Florida in March and will see what is involved. I have a friend in San Jose that exports Land Rovers and Land Cruisers for a living, In the meanwhile, I am going to start disassembling the U320 in April and will start taking photos. Not the fastest restorer on the planet, though.
  11. I think shipping to Miami would be around $800. Should be EPA exempt as it is over 25 years old. I am retired military and register all of my vehicles in Alabama. If it doesn't sell, I have a guy here interested in my BJ40. Something's got to go. The spousal unit does not care for my newly acquired Datsun addiction.
  12. Yes, it is for sale. I want to restore the U320 and the body is going to be rather involved. Labor is cheap here, but parts brought in to the country are taxed at 100%. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy a ticket to Miami, buy the part and bring it in my suitcase than it is to pay the import duties. I shipped my Land Rover to the Houston and did a lot of work on it there, then drove it back and I still think I was ahead off the game.
  13. Just finished reading all twenty pages. You have skills, sir!
  14. If you ever decide to come down here, let me know. I'm up for the road trip. You can do it in three days to Texas.
