  1. I'm still alive. The truck is still alive. Tendril, I only have a pair of the trispokes. Some apologizing: And I've been stockpiling parts that probably won't ever end up in the Datsun.
  2. I suppose if anyone is interested in trading/buying my rears, I'd be interested. I only need a pair for my rears and I'm looking for something cool. Something 15x8ish and not so much negative offset as this. -10 or so max. Just throwing it out there.
  3. Looks like I'll have to go to Wayno's house for all my Datsun needs. Tires included.
  4. Got the wheels on. Not super stoked on the rears. A bit much on the poke/dish. I love the fronts, but they're pretty tricky to find. Who knows what I'll do. Here's a bit more apologizing: Also, I never got my brakes on/need to raise it up a bit/door and window seals never went in. On top of that, the pass doesn't sound too fun with this snow. So the truck will be staying over here for awhile longer. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  5. This is just turning into a photo dump, apologies on that. I installed the Pertronix kit and got it timed pretty good. Could use a little tweaking. Test fitted my Enkei's on the rear. I'll have to roll the fender a bit, which is fine. Then woke up to this...
  6. Merry Christmas, gang. I've been freezing my ass off doing little things. Hoping to head to a buddy's shop tomorrow. Same old, same old.
  7. That's what I'm leaning towards. I also like the classic look of red Advans. I think it wouldn't match the truck at all, (not that that's a bad thing) It'd be kinda cool to have a popping color on the front of it.
  8. I feel the need to explain my decision on the wheels. Haha, I don't know why. I know that the trispoke isn't exactly period correct but I was drawing on inspiration from a couple builds. This bluebird: I love how it all came together on that. This guy test fitted a set of trispokes, but I never saw them mounted up: I also loved SSR Mk1s a lot but 6 lug is a pain and I'm not planning on going 4 lug any time soon. Then the mismatch of both an open spoke design and the solid look of the enkeis, I think it'll pull from a lot of builds I've liked in the past. So yeah, that's my silly explanation of why I went with this wheel setup.
  9. Teaser on the wheels.... JK. You guys hate teasers. The Enkeis are 3 piece welded. 15x8.5 and will be going on the back. The fronts are Lodio Drives that I ordered from Japan. 15x8 +1 They'll go on the front to show off my fancy disc brakes (lol). I have some ideas for the fronts, but I figured I'd ask what y'alls opinion on refinishing them are. I was leaning towards just polished. The rears will get full polish in an SSR mk1 style.
  10. I guess I can give a teasers of what's in store. I've got wheels on their way from Japan. Hoping to get them before Christmas. We'll see about that. Brakes will all be overhauled with a disc conversion up front. Little tuneup things for the engine: Pertronix kit, some seals, cap/plugs/wires. I got a bunch of knobs that were missing from the interior as well as some seals that are bad on my truck. Nothing crazy as of now. The J13 is running great so I think I'll leave it in for awhile. I have some plans on a swap, but it's not a main concern. This engine was rebuilt a couple years ago and seems to be running well. Slow as a dog, though. I'll try and snag more photos over the next week or two.
  11. I was just riding by and saw your truck. It was a cold windy day for golfing! And I would be interested in one. I was going to attempt to bend the radio hole a bit straighter. I'll see how it does. I don't need a crazy system. Maybe something to listen to would be nice, though.
  12. I started an intro thread over on the 520 forum, but I figured I'd keep this thread going more. I sold my 80's racecar for "something a bit more practical" and luckily scored this 520 from a friend. Said racecar: But no one cares about Mercedes on here... The 520 is basically stock, lowered all around. That's about it. Onto the OICS: That's where I'm starting at with it. I luckily jumped on the 520 that popped up in the Vancouver junkyard. I snagged some missing interior bits and little things my truck could use. Oh, and I saw Wayno's truck yesterday at the golf course. That's half the reason I started this thread, so it's not too awkward when I come checking out the Portland people's Datsuns. So, yeah. My name is Ossie, I go to Portland State. I ride my bike around a lot as the truck is in Central Oregon at my Mom's (I have no garage here.) I've been stockpiling parts for awhile now and hope to get them all installed over winter break.
  13. This is awesome. Y'all do it right. I can't wait for Canby.
