  1. Mike, you are correct ...15 amps is heaviest fuse. '79 620 is what I have. My cover is missing a chunk from right top corner so I would like an image of a unbroken one. That would show me what that fuse and the one right below it goes to. Heck, my block itself is broken clean through the middle, top to bottom. Have any sources for a simple block like this?? Kim
  2. I would like to post a picture of my 1979 Datsun 620 partial fuse block COVER. Having no luck. Missing (broken off) top right portion of cover right above the Headlight label, which is above the Horn, Stop, Hazard label position. Hope that helps someone to help me.
  3. The speedo cable is delivering a very small amount of tranny fluid to my little cloth and very small plastic wrap job. Did it to keep the disconnected cable end clean till I can find a replacement speedometer. It is dripping so it must not be sealed at the tranny. I hope you can help me by describing the seal at the lower drive end of the cable. I bought this new cable at NAPA. I hope I would have made sure to include any seal that was included. Do you think a new replacement cable would have the needed seal or would that be something that I might have tossed out with my bad, original old cable? Thanks!
  4. Replaced the broken speedo cable. Then the speedometer started acting erratic. Very shortly thereafter the gauge started squawking and then spinning like the clock on a time machine. Disconnected the cable from the back, wrapped the end in some clean cloth and zip tied a small plastic bag over that. Starting to drip tranny fluid on my pant leg. Gotta do something to fix or replace the speedometer. Where to source a replacement is my question.
  5. Lockleaf, Thanks for the Ute description. I suppose only a few Ute parts are Right Hand Drive (RHD) specific, such as my naive/faulty wiper arms purchase. Do you know if a Ute speedometer would be reading miles per hour or metric? Thank you!
  6. What does the term Ute mean? Is it like used in another country? Is it like an Australian term for pick-up truck. I need some parts but they are described for Datsun 620 "Ute". Any help? Thank you!
  7. I only ask because I assumed that the wiper arms I bought on Ebay were going to fit my ('79 620) pickup. They ended up coming from overseas to here in Oregon and were for right hand drive (RHD) models only. Is the term Ute a red flag. I now need a blinker/Hi-Lo Beam switch and the part I'm looking at includes the term ute. I'm hoping this is an either/or (universal) type part? Also how to tell if this switch is also going to control my Hi/Lo headlight beams or for turn signal indicators only? Thanks very much!
  8. I was hoping it would be you datzen. You'll never know how much your posts have already helped me with repairs on my '79 620 pick-up! So I will be getting a service manual this week but if I could lean on you a bit...Photos that are posted show that the speedometer is part of an instrument cluster. Your previous reply refers to taking the gauge out. Just want to clarify whether the gauge could be taken out separately. If indeed the cluster needs to be pulled I will proceed carefully... seems with all the wires and such, it could create complications if connections are strained. Will a Haynes manual really walk a person through the steps needed to pull the cluster?
  9. My speedo cable broke on my '79 620 (manual 4 speed) I slid it out from (lower) cable housing and also managed to get the shorter length out from the meter end. It snapped about a couple feet from the speedometer. I laid both ends on a board and it measured almost 76 inches. In a hurry I bought a repair cable only (no sheath/housing) that NAPA said would work. It was to be cut to length since it came out of the box at 120 inches. It did not have the correct sized (keyed) end to connect to the tranny pinion gear. I returned it and ordered an assembled complete cable with housing. I was a little worried since NAPA said it would be 70 inches long. Well it seemed to reach both ends easily going the same route as the original and I was pleased on the test drive that my speedometer was working great. Next day only the odometer was working when I drove it. Speedo needle kinda floats at positions (on a clock face view) between 4:30 and 7:30. Is my cable too short or my gauge broken? It's starting to make some noises so I'm not driving it till I figure it out. New member here...any one help?
