  1. Hey guys. next year will be 40 years with the old Bomber.
  2. yea. I ammm going with bolts i decided. I was going to lock tight them. but the gasket maker might work too. what does RTV stand for. Is that like Yamabond #4
  3. Hey guys. doing valve cover gasket, which includes half moon inserts in front and back. Back one looks like been replaced . front one seems oem original. has a blue center to it. thinking about leaving back one. i ca n see where they used some sort of silicone. The front one i could yank out and replace. alot easier to get too. What do you guys think? should i leave em ?? how do i get the front one out ??.. its pretty tight. Or just seal em with permatex gasket maker. non hardening stuff i have>>
  4. Hey guys. uh I have had a leak where the master brake cylinder mounts to the big round black drum. My guess is that is a air vacuum container that forces air into the master cylinder??? anyway. when i topped off the brake reservior a few months ago, seems like the leak got worse because the reservior got lower than before. so, anyway, today i cleaned up around where the m cylinder hooks to the drum and siliconed around there. what do you think is going on with the brakes?? brakes dont feel any different...
  5. Hey guys. looks like it worked. bled the damper first then the piston on the tranny. clutch is working. thanks..
  6. oh yea. i filled it up with dot 3 today. forgot to mention that
  7. 1984 4x4 king cab... Something thats been going on for a while is my clutch has been difficult to engage. Mostly when stopped is when i notice it. I have to slam the pedal as far as i can to the floor board before i can get it in gear. For some reason I thought i had a manual clutch but i learned today its hydrolic. I finally got the cap off the resevoir today. Holy crap there was barely any left in there. but not low enough to let air in..still that fluid must be in there since last clutch was done centuries ago. So whats my next move?? must be a bleeder on the slave cylinder right? on the transmission?? could have air in line or leak on the slave cylinder i am just guessing?? Thanks guys. get me a pic if you can... been wanting to take few more pics, but been dark now when i get home. maybe tomorrow
  8. took these today. bought truck new in denver. dealer put bigger wheels and tires on it..235s.. It also had brushed aluminum roll bar, and bumbers. Alloy 606 they called it. with bosch lights on roll bar. been trying to get some pics on for a while... i will get some of the front soon
  9. thaks guys for the info. I think i got the original one jimmy rigged on for now. I was going to send some pics, but i guess i need to reduce the size of them first. i will work on it.
  10. hi guys, been a while. still have my 1984 720 king cab 4x4. 38 years, the other day i went to fill thebrake fluid reservior and a clip broke on the cap. i called all the auto parts stores in town. nothing,, ... the dealer has one for 77 $ dollars, so i zip tied the old one in place.. I guess my question is what does my future look like for getting parts. Right now it looks bleak...to me anyway. Should i open up a ebay account. Really dont want to do that,, Any positive feedback will be appreciated.
  11. hey mike.. yea it was the fuse. not sure why. it blew. I know i have another one some where>>>>.........I will get one in tomorrow. Let you know if it blows again. thanks ps. there is just one long nut to loosen to adjust the toe in on the front wheels right??
  12. Hey guys. well its been a while. still have the bomber. i bought new in 1984. passed emissions again with flying colors. My door is about to fall off, but thats another issue. So after work i noticed no lights on the dash. So ipulled over and got out. So no parking lights or tail lights. Blinkers ok ,brake light ok. head lights ok. i must be getting old because i cant remember if tail lights are supposed to come on aotomatically. ?? Or they come on with the first click on the control knob. so i think everything that is out is on that first switch in the control arm right?? I dont have the fuse box cover so I dont know which fuse to check. Can u guys tell me which fuse??? I think i looked at new control knob for lights a few years ago. found one for like 300 bucks. I shot some Wd 40 in the steering column area.
  13. Ok guys cool . Ok guys I will stay clear of anything synthetic.. I will look for old stuff. I ran Pennzoil for like 29 years. I am lucky I still have a license. I got a 14 point ticket in the middle of a blizzard going to work!!! I had the truck in 4 wd and I was having a blast in the snow! guess officer wasn't as exited as me...boo hoo... Young cop. funny thing is I was driving my truck five years before he was born. well , I probrably deserved it. My driving sucks. I need to start driving like a old man. PS [ tranny, axles, cv joints are all original on truck] .
  14. Hey guys. in walmart yesterday and could not find the conventional oil in the 5 quart jug. Still have it in the 1 quart bottles. They have a high mileage synthetic blend in the 5 quart jug. Its cheaper than buying the single quarts.. So is it ok for me to go to a synthetic oil blend ??? never have put synthetic oil in the truck ever... really don't know ??? motor is at 284000 miles. Thanks ...... PS Is 5w=30 just a little thinner than 10w--30? I put a quart of 5w---30 in the truck yesterday, its all I had at the time and it was pretty low so I used it..
  15. Hi guys. just wanted to get back on and follow up on what I found out about the power steering pump. I got the leak fixed. no bearing in there. just a nylon sleeve with grooves in it. the power st fluid runs in the grooves and lubes the pulley shaft. so when I parked the truck at night, the fluid would leak out around the seal , then when it was cold out and I would start it, it would squeal really bad for at least 5 to ten minutes until more fluid got into that shaft.. so .. just wanted to share that little bit of info...
