So i broke down the other day, and it turned out to be the timing was off. I got it timed good enough to limp it home, but now im having some trouble setting the timing and getting it running at all. halp
the muffler filled with unburned gas from the bad timing and it backfired and blew up the exhaust! no joke! now the timing is fixed and the exhaust, my datsun fixed itself!
It runs great, starts fine, drives fine. nobody siphons gas from my truck because im parked in a private parking lot. i was thinking maybe a gas leak somewhere, but it doesnt smell like a gas leak.
Carb is jetted properly, the plugs are coffee and cream colored. I just had the carb tuned about 2 weeks ago by a trusted shop. the exhaust is a poorly welded on thrush turbo, its got a pretty bad leak where the pipe meets the muffler. could that be my problem?
I noticed yesterday that my truck was getting really bad MPG, its a stock l20 with a weber 32/36 4 speed. its only getting around 7-9 MPG with a combo of city and highway driving.
Ive got a toyota TE51 liftback that my friend is buying the motor and tranny out of but he doesnt want anything else. Long story short, does anyone want to buy the rolling shell? Ill sell it cheap, ive got the title and keys and everything. Located in Sisters Oregon.
I figured it out, I had my new musical air horn layed out and wired up, but i didnt have it bolted down. if its not bolted down, its not grounded haha im a dummy.
My horn on my 521 didnt work when I got it and I figured the old horns were burnt out. when I put my new horn in it still doesnt work. I do get a clicking noise from what I think is the horn relay. Is the relay bad? whats going on?
are there any complications that might come with dropping the rear of a 521 4"? The one im most concerned with is having to notch the frame.
thanks, sol.
