Check the fuse.If the wrong fuse is installed with higher rating the failed reg charges at 16 + Volts and it will get the connections/connector at the reg and wires hot before the fuse blows. The connector and connections get loose after this happens.620s are known for reg failures.I think it should be a 10 amp fuse.Anything higher will cause troubles. I found this out the hard way, lol.
Sorry the pin I pulled turned out to be the anti dieseling solenoid,I put the pin back in.What did help on mine was adjusting the electric choke. The black plastic spring housing was pinned so I could not adjust choke when I loosened the three screws.I found a pin in place in the other half of the spring housing( carb side) and pulled the pin out with a pair of vice grips.I guess some models this was a notch in the casting and you need to grind it off.Anyways after you do that it allows the choke spring housing to rotate and this helps the cold idle problem.Theres also a high idel screw adjustment thats a bitch to get too you can adjust. This kicks in when engine is cold and you hit the gas pedal once to start. After the electric choke warms up and opens the high idle cam kicks off.
Hope this helps
Im thinking its the left one and mounts on the driver side.Does this one mount on the water pump with one bolt hole and the other slides over the water pump dowel pin? I'll pull #1 plug and see where the pully mark lines up.I'll be back! lol
Thanks bro, if my truck had air conditioning at one time would the relays for it be in that black box also? Nice truck you have.I have the same wheels on mine.Someday when Im approved I'll beable to post a pic, lol.
Anyone know what this large black box is under my hood of my 1977 620 mounted between the VR and the horn relay on the passenger side? It has relays and it looks to be factory wired.I would post a pic but Im a newbee.
Quistion,
I bought a 77 620 k-cab.Had it a few weeks.Im a good mechanic and electrical guy.I was under truck and noticed it had what looked like a factory electric fuel pump mounted close to the tank on the passenger side and it was unpluged and by by-passed with a fuel filter. The engine is using a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the engine.
Why is the electric fuel pump there and not being used ? I pluged it in and it works.Should I use both? Did it come from factory with 1 electrical and 1 mechanical ?
Thanks Ben
Replacing clutch in my 77 620.Is there a certain way in relationship to the crank shaft it needs to bolt on as far as balance to the engine crankshaft or just set in place and bolt it in? I know the toruqe is 105 Ft lbs. The reason I ask is Ive done a few clutches on tractors and big trucks where it had to be placed a certain way. Im not a red neck but very close, lol
