  1. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I really do appreciate the help. I haven't found any time to mess with it yet, but I'll try this weekend and leave an update.
  2. Sorry! Wow, it's an '85 haha. I used to own an '86 a few years ago so I'm still saying that for some reason. It's an '85, carbureted with the original Hitachi.
  3. Hello fello Rats, I've been benefiting from your advice in these forums for a while now, but this is my first topic. I have an 85 720 manual pickup, 2.4L 4x4, 85,000 original miles. The previous owner had it sitting for quite some time, and most (if not all) of the parts on it were original when I got it. Since acquiring it, I've replaced the distributor, starter coil, spark plugs and wires, all of the vacuum lines, the oil pressure gauge, the battery and cables (to ground and to the starter), fuel filter (not the one in the fuel pump) changed the oil about 5 times in the little over a year that I've had it (currently have Delo 400 running through it) just to clean it out a bit, and a few front suspension parts that were just rust balls haha. The truck runs fantastic, most of the time. The problem I've had recently is I'll be driving along, and then all of a sudden I'll lose power. It feels as if there is no fuel going to the engine. I pull it over to the side of the road in neutral, and it'll keep running for a bit, but if I let off the gas it sputters and dies completely. It takes a minute to start up again, but when it starts again it runs great at idle (no sputtering or anything out of the ordinary). The first time it happened, I just let it idle for a few minutes, then put it in gear and drove off just fine. But last time it happened, when I put it into gear it lost all power and died. After starting and letting it idle for a little longer and revving the engine for a bit, I was able to get it home just fine. I'm pretty ameteur at all of this, but I'm enjoying working on this thing and trying to keep it running. Has this happened to any of you? Any suggestions of what to check?
