  1. Just an update i used this alternator : Nissan Pulsar N16 1.8L QG18DE 100 AMP Its a perfect fit, i looked at the Nissan Altima alternator aswell but there was none in Australia and prices were pretty much the same because of shipping costs so i went for the Nissan Pulsar.
  2. ok so after many trials and errors, i by fluke left the old power cable unplugged off of my new electronic dizzy and it then gave spark. lucky something didnt break but it works now. fired first start, time to run it in.
  3. i'm a bit lost here Ok so once i got my engine and everything back together, i gave the engine a whirl and got nothing. I now have come to the conclusion that i have no spark, because with a spark plug out and earthed i can see no spark. New spark plugs New distributor/cap/rotor Things i have noticed the balast resistor gets hot enough to the point where i cannot hold it without getting burned so bypassed it - is this normal? the coil also heats up alot without cranking, just with the keys in the "on" position. I'm wondering because i did fiddle around with the two relays on the inside of the engine bay - right side i think for america, left for australia. if they could be the problem. If not i'm stuffed to know why. I have a new coil coming as i thought it'd be nice to have a new one and also new spark plug leads. If anyone has any ideas it will be much appreciated.
  4. Would it be necessary to fuse the line from the alternator to the starter back to the battery? Thanks

  6. This is a blow through turbo build, well thats what i aspire it to be. The weber i have will have to be modified i'm betting, but it has already been jetted to run extra rich at the moment. Thanks, alot of love was put into it. this car won't wont be tested in anyway to its limits but i would like to run in daily on 8psi.
  7. i cant see the images you guys posted all i see is the file name. 2 inside pictures when i received it. Glady i got this beauty for free from my boss. he has it in storage for 35 years + What my d21 looks like atm
  8. I have been working hard renovating a 17 ft 1960s baravan - caravan and working hard at work and slowly working on my ute. So i got all the internals put in today and also have a new weber 32/36, power steering and a/c all ready to bolt on. Still taking my time on this build as i have 3 months left till i need it ready. Its finaly coming together. The biggest unknown problem i have is what else to buy for my ignition retard system. I have only this part at the moment. http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/121/8762/10002/-1 Anyone else used this system before? Will try my best to update and ask questions.
  9. if anyone is ever this keen here goes a beauty : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/86-95-Nissan-pickup-D21-alternator-Hi-amp-by-Mean-Green-/170544169612 i havn't looked up there business or anything though.
  10. ahh yes that is much easier than what i was going to do, now i only need to worry about the starter wires, because i am hiding all my wires away i actually have about 4 metres of that thick wire already i remove from my engine bar because the previous owner had 2 battery's setup one on each side of the bay. gonna go hunting at the wreckers this friday.
  11. thanks for the information really appreciate the help. I am already in the process of updating most of my wiring so i will be going big for the alternator. I will check around some wreckers i know some really good ones but man Australia seems so expensive compared to the U.S. Have a wreckers in town i scraped power steering gear out of, I won't go any less than 80 amps though.
  12. thanks for your input DanielC i may not need 100 amp i will be running about 4 spot lights and also charging a couple deep cycle batteries when towing my caravan few other things, i was really just looking for an abundance of power supply i was also thinking maybe 80 amp would be more than enough. But a friend suggested i get 100 amp just to be safe for the future. And they're also called pathfinders here i will definitely look into this. What amp is your alternator? i am still yet to go and measure my one but this looks promising i'm not sure if 70amp is what i want though. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-NAVARA-PATHFINDER-ALTERNATOR-New-92-00-2-4LTR-PETROL-/230702599866?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b6f24eba
  13. ohk thanks guys, ill look around for a cheap 100 amp alternator and see what i can fabricate up to make it secure on the block.
