  1. Spoiler: Ian is now running tripple side drafts on his car.
  2. Out with the old. In with the new. Also installed that fuel pump. Mounted it to one of the fuel tank brackets. Since the wiring in the radio compartment was all hacked up for an aftermarket A/C system, so i couldn't get power to those AUX wires in the rear. I ran a wire from the battery, to a switch, to a fuse, to the pump instead.
  3. Worked on taking all of the valuables off of the old engine to transfer on the new one. Got an Autocom stage 1 clutch kit for the new engine as well. Going to be pulling the engine only with the trans still in the car.
  4. Based upon all of the given factors of the original engine, I decided just to get an entire whole new engine. I mean i could have gone through the steps to rebuild it, but who knows. Corrision would have probably eaten its way through the cylinder walls by then or worse (if possible). This is what i bought. It's an L28E, F54 block N47 head 9.7:1 Compression. Not sure if head is from a maxima or not, but there is a spray bar on the cam. Mileage is unknown, engine came out of a '75 280Z with 88K, but this is a mismatched engine so who knows. Came with a 4 SPD tranny which i will be selling.
  5. I WAS going to replace on of the wheel cylinders, but this part is manufactured in the wrong way where the brake line inlet is on the side of the cylinder next to the bleeder, rather than the front of the cylinder. "Guarenteed to fit 70-71 Nissan 240Z" HA! So instead, i decided to make the car look moar purdyer :D And then. Kewl. Also tried to time the ignition today, but i think someone put the dizzy shaft on wrong because when adjusting the dizzy to the full advance setting, i'm only getting 2* BTDC. Yes, i remembered to disconnect the vac advance first.
  6. Wow... I had a feeling it has something to do with the coolant mix. Maybe this is why all my heater lines are plugged off. <_<
  7. Installed the new water pump inlet. Unforunately the bottom bolt broke half way into the block when i removed it... No way in hell am i going to beable to get that out, so with the new bolt i had to space the head from the housing from the washers to get it to fit tight. And the broken bolt blues continued when another one broke off in the thermostat housing when i was replacing the thermostat. <_< Amazing. Paid 100 bucks to get it removed since the drill bit method failed me. Drove around with a hose clamp holding the other end on since i am a redneck...
  8. Installed the new ignition lock assy. It was some cheap chinese generic part, so id didn't fit that well. Some of the screw holes didnt line up (Hence the duct tape) and the cylinder pertrudes out of the socket further than normal. Eh, its alright. Then, i changed the oil and began prepping the engine bay to replace the radiator. I made a pretty surprizing and unfortunate discovery... I didn't even know something like this could actually happen. An aluminum tube just desinegrating like that? Out with the old. (Removed A/C compressor too.) In with the new.
  9. Recently made a huge milestone towards getting my Z on the road. I got her to start!!! :w00t: While waiting for my new IGN lock assembly to arrive, i couldn't help but trying to see if i can make the engine crank over (I was wondering if it was locked up or not). So what i did was take the current ignition assy. apart, and removed the switch on the back of the lock. I installed a fresh battery, grabbed a screwdriver to work the switch, and the engine started cranking. I put the choke on, started pumping the gas, and cylinder by cylinder the engine started up! I was shrieking like a little school girl, i couldn't believe it. It was even running on 5 yr old gas. I was even able to take her around the block! Expired registration and all. Due to the bad gas the engine was pinging a bit, so i retarded the ignition timing. Yes, i did add oil to the engine and top off the radiator before i did so. One thing is for sure, the struts are shot. She rides like an old Fleetwood Caddy. The rear brakes don't work either, tried bleeding them but barely any fluid came out so i think the wheel cylinders are seized or something. Fronts work fine though. Oh, and the fuel sender is stuck on F. I drained the tank of the old gas and it still read Full, so that will need to be replaced too. Now, i am working on removing the half-assed aftermarket A/C system.
  10. Hmm, alright i'll give that a try. And thanks, i will probably need some parts down the road for sure.
  11. Hah! Yeah, when ever i close the passenger door, the crank usually flies off. Maybe i'll try lock-titing it on...
  12. Did a few little things here and there to the car on Wednesday. First, i started doing a little work to the interior. Before: After: Then, i had to pull one of the door locks to take the cylinder in and get a few keys made for it. This was pretty simple. Door panel came right off after i removed a few accesories/screws, though for the life of me i couldn't get that pin back in that holds the window crank on... Oh well. Progress is being made!
  13. Well, I guess we'll see what I can get away with :). And thanks, the interior is all original. The drivers seat has a tear along the right side, but the passenger seat is perfect.
