  1. Ive got my KC 620 stripped of all non factory wires and upholstery. In addition I found a snap on 1/4" drive and metric socket set hiding inside the dash. The factory wiring is pretty clean to my surprise. The wiring up front has been spliced in few places for fog lights and wut looks to be an attempt at led lighting under truck. Inside cab is solid except floor pans driver and passenger, cab mounts are solid. Either fabbing floor pans or ordering some for a 720 and fitting them. Decided to repair rust spots on bed and 4 link rear while bed is off. Only dropping 2", Not bagging truck. Need more traction. I'm really tempted to add roll cage for safety and added stiffness. Prepping firewall and shaft tunnel for future SR swap, sticking a mildly modded KA with 5spd in there for now, was in a 240sx. Traded a flat bottom boat with 25hp tohatsu for it. Good score I beleive. Still building the z22/l20 hybrid. Block is at machine shop getting cleaned up. Keeping it stock, and sticking it in my 79 620. Getting the weber and electric fuel pump with regulator. Factory 5spd. Wife decided she needs a grocery getter. Told her my thoughts exactly. But I gotta get rid of my 82' 720 once I pull engine. May keep the 4spd, rear end is shot. Has factory ac/heat still works. Solid truck minor body damage. Will post pics soon as I get cab back on and floor pans welded.
  2. Hello datsun lovin humans and a late thank you datzenmike for an answer you gave me year ago on another topic, deployed before could tank. I have managed to scrape up not 1, but 3 functional/running datsuns. And 1 of them is my first build (79' 620, 5 spd) ever 12 years ago, found in field dead few months back, and title still in my name. Under $1200 invested for all 3 trucks at this point, spent over a years time maybe. Deployments/missions inferred, but now I'm home for good. 1978 620 king cab 5 spd- prime focus atm, it's gonna be my hybrid show/cruiser once this truck is built or all parts acquired, I have to figure out which single cab to keep with it (620 vs 720). The 1 truck that I keep will be streetable along with the soon to be rebuilt/modded king cab. Most likely my beater farm truck that's a future sleeper. The lucky 3rd will be my version of a trail buggy/baja side by side, tbd project for winter 2015. These are my hopes and dreams atm, wife, work, health interference is possible. But I'm pretty determined and have already began. Without further ado the trucks: fyi couldn't get to load up in order I wanted/acquired http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/myjobcontacts/library/ Since these pics, I've parked the yellow 720 and green 620 to start hybridnizing. Blue 79 620 has become big donor for 78 620. I'm only using the z22 bottomend and possibly the a/c components out of yellow 720. And everything that comes off the king cab is going back in the blue 620, for future build. Also the king cab is getting new floor pans, besides bed, only rust on truck. Just swapping out beds from 620's, no more rust on bed now. I'm going to keep this hybrid build basic and clean as possible. And so far my concern is engine mounts for z22 block to set in the 620. to my understanding, the engine should sit right in place using factory mounts. If not, feel free to chime in. And has anyone seen this hybrid combo use a turbo. Understand efi conversion needed to force induce properly. Fyi for now I'm using stock everything, l20b head is only thing been worked on (angled valve job, gasket matched, surfaced, some polishing), and weber 32/36. Will try and document progress, also ask anything. Look fwd to feed back.
  3. Thank you datsunmike, sorry for late response got sent back overseas days after this original post. I was an idiot when installing drive shaft.
  4. If this already has a thread, my apologies. I have 2 old/new datsun trucks. 1979 620 5spd and a 1982 720 4spd. I drive the 720 which is ugly and beat up due to 20 yrs farm service. but the interior of cab, wiring, ac, heat, lights, everything as if bought off show room 3 yrs ago. untouched. I have added a 32/36 to the 2.2 napz, got frisky and busted the rearend. I have now added the complete rearend from the 620, it bolted right in place as planned, But the 720 driveshaft is a little(1.5"-2.25"ish) to long. This is with rearend unsupported. Everything else is identical, such as flange bolt pattern and type. The 1979 has a 2pc drive shaft, 82 has a single. My questions are: 1. If I keep the 4spd in the 720 and use the 620 rearend, is there a bolt up combo already out there? or do I need to go ahead and cut the drive shaft down and fit it? 2. And Im thinking on adding the 5spd tranny from 620 as well, it'll bolt right in using the bell housing from the 2.2 due to the left and right offset differences in models correct? I figure ill have to cut driveshaft for this. an addon question off subject as well, Can the 79 620 cab and body directly bolt onto the 82 720 frame? I have a 720 4x4 single cab that i like to convert the 620 into. Any info on this subject is appreciated Thank you
