  1. So back to the beginning and these guys are just confirming the first statement. "not overcharge at Bill's" . And also just an Opinion given by someone who normally feels ripped off by mechanics. And avoid most of them unless you get one of those problems that just throws you off. like a stuck choke linkage. The guy seems to be more helpful to people who have a basic mechanical understanding. And he wants a fortune for his "gold"... don't want it - don't buy it. RR
  2. I have not changed the fuel filter yet. but I should thanks. and the weber is what I was thinking too. I have depleted my resources on this truck to the point where I am truing to wait on that one.. what should that cost me? The report today was that it ran fine, with no rough idle. no tach on it either, so I would have to guess and 800- 900 sounds about like what it doing. might be a little lower, maybe just bump up the idle speed would be a good option. it was her 2nd day driving today, day one ended with a dead batterie.. left the lights on. I am probably just being a little overcautious, I was just curious if anybody has found a benefit to some specific fuel. brand or octane level. I told her to put regular in it next time to see if there was any change.
  3. So then do you have some possible reasons for the not so perfect idle. Other than fuel. Stock carb...

    Fuel

What type of fuel is recommended for a '78 620 with a stock carb. I was running rough at idle, I put some sea foam in one tank and in about 20 miles it totally went back to normal. Then 2 tanks of chevron supreme it back...not as bad. but is really making me think it's just the quality of the gas these days. I was considering paying the extra for non-ethenol, but it's a big pain. They will only fill cans where I go. any advise would be helpful thanks.
  5. it's an automatic, it was a good lesson to learn. I did tell her to ask around to see if anyone had cables that could jump start it next time. she said she was too embarrassed.
  6. I was just testing the water. and your right and so was Jock.. BUrrrrrrr.
  7. I got that.. can I use that line? maybe I am just truing to not let you get hypothermia.
  8. right. sounds like you are off your meds.
  9. just a positive note on a slew of negativity
  10. Just going off what Jock told me and what I have read on here so far.
  11. Thats nice, but Bill was the first owner for the first 2 years in the mid 70's. Not sure about the work that he did, cause I was about 6.
  12. you all sound bitter, now I see why Jock told me to post something on Ratsun. I feel differently than you do thats all.
  13. Damb you make me want to put that nasty looking bumper back on.
  14. Never had an issue with the work that they have done for me. I had a 87 nissan 4x4, and I could not figure out why the thing was running funny after it was warmed up. I took it down there, and he pulled it right in. Jock listened to it for about 10 seconds. He grabbed a long screw driver, and pushed the stuck linkage for the choke. Instant fix. I asked him how much for that? "don't worry about it he says.. I threw him a 20 anyway. I have probably taken 5 different vehicles to him for small issues over the last 20 years. Never once did I feel overcharged. For every negative story about Bills, there are most likely a 100 good ones. Nobody talks about the good stuff.
  15. I bought a 620 for 400$ put about 3000 into it. Running perfectly. I got a call today..." Dad that damb truck won't start" So I said "did you leave the lights on" big pause..........."yeah". First Day.
