  1. ^ lol, that would be cool, but sadly no. just a section of it. i just sprayed everything to give it some uniformity.
  2. Alright, so final update for this project now that i'm taking a break from my other money pit...lol Front view: and sort-of-driver view: all things considered, it turned out nice.
  3. ahh, nice. Looking at that, mine might not have a very good tilt upwards though....not that it really matters to me because i'm not going to be staring at it while driving anyways. lol
  4. so there was some printing mishap.... curves down on the right side for w/e reason so i took it and had them print it in this bad boy the print time is 33 hours so this wait should be fun.... time for more beer.
  5. haha didnt even know thats what they looked like... i have the datsun engineering in my blood! its hard to see from the picture, but i added a twist? angle? the gauges tilt to face the driver, i didnt know how much to add so it should be interesting lol
  6. Woooooo! Beer is delicious! anywho, this is what i'm working with.... w/e the reason center area is all f'd up....soooooo and then eight hours later.......(friends sneak peak out of the printer) hopefully i know how to use a caliper....
  7. Alas, the modification is almost complete. I tried to heed the warning of not tightening the sensor by the casing but i just could not get the thing tight with a 15mm so it'll have to do. I also learned the hard way what happens when you work with metal near live wires because you didnt take the ground cable off...... Routed the cable through, Spliced in the signal and everything works!
  8. haha, that sucks. Originally i didnt even go for that. I went to get the heater temp cable, but saw it and thought, what the hell that would look neat......
  9. yeah, i JUST found this http://community.ratsun.net/topic/35511-720-oil-and-volt-gauge-installation/ so thanks for saving me time so i dont have to look for that other wire. Return that stupid speedo cable and go get one of those tomorrow. Thanks! In other news....i have a '81 cluster w/o tac and clock for sale..... lol
  10. Finally finished. Everything Works, like....i wouldnt be surprised if the car spontaneously explodes because how well the conversion went. Here's the "walk-through"? Its really easy to replace the pins like datzenmike said, and i dont have a working stereo so i didnt do any pins relating to that or 4x4. There's some missing information because i had to troubleshoot and record keeping got really confusing. For the most part this is correct though. aaaaaand scored these sweet things at the junkyard Thank god the harness has all the plugs just waiting to be used. Just have to figure out how to get the pressure signal now.
  11. Everything is coming along well, just didnt know what the hell these are because i dont have a repair manual or anything for an '85. Can someone be kind enough to tell me what those plugs are for? and also, i dont know if one of these exists for an '81 aside from staring at the wiring diagram for long hours sooo....
  12. son of a....... didn't want to sound dumb/argue; so research...more research... found this, http://forums.nicoclub.com/1985-nissan-720-speedometer-cable-t557430.html referenced into oreilly and got, http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/PIO0/CA3080.oap?ck=Search_0911706_-1_2975&keyword=0911706&doInterchangeSearch=true so, hopefully they can get that instead. which looks a hell-a-lot closer to what it should be, and see if they price match. if not rockauto it is. stupid oreilly website..... EDIT: both of the above cables will NOT work. I ended up having to go to pick'n pull to get the cable off the original car. I talked to a person who works at baxter; he informed me that no aftermarket speedo cable exists for this era of trucks. Dont know the validity of that, but Oreilly's and Baxter both have bad part numbers.
  13. lol towords the bottom, there is a compatibility tab, and its listed under there. i think thats why even if i choose ^ it takes me there.
  14. Just to be clear, this is the cluster that i got from pick'n pull i went to o'reilly today and just asked how much a new cable would cost since i was in there. He told me 12$. I was surprised so i went ahead and ordered it but asked to see a picture just to be sure it had the right connection. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/PIO0/CA3083/01175.oap?year=1985&make=Nissan&model=720%2BPickup&vi=1210352&ck=Search_C0073_1210352_2975&pt=C0073&ppt=C0338 i looked in the box and it has threaded ends. not the plastic push-lock type i found on the original truck. am i missing something here?
