  1. Update... I am using a mid 80's 720 Carb Z24 motor I recently acquired. Currently working on the engine installation and body mounts but all seems to be working fine. I also posted in the classifieds my 70, 521 complete frame / chassis with the running L18 motor and Tranny if anyone is interested in some or all of that scon7391@gmail.com Will post pics of the project soon...Thanks again everyone!
  2. I have decided to go with an engine from an 87 / 720 instead,, was worried about the L18 lacking the horse to carry that weight around,,, I am still curious if that would have bolted up or not,, I had to cut the front mounts off my frame today when I put the cab on because it was hanging up on the steering gear box so I will make a few brakets to weld on in the front. The side mounts were good, the rear need moved about 3 inches forward... Had to remove both bumpers, from the pathfinder, gonna try and find some tubular type...also going to add my datsun tank under the pathfinder chassis so I will have 2 tanks,,, other than that, all seems to be getting there,, little at a time,,,
  3. Checked on that code today,,, didnt find it,,,
  4. Sure, will check tomorrow.. I assume the color code you want is for the pathfinder?
  5. Someone was suppose to come last week and pick up the whole shell for around 500... I robbed it of the speedo cable in case I need it, interior nothing to write home about but the body and glass is solid. I even spent the time disconnecting everything neatly so its pretty much plug and go if someone needed...
  6. That's a nice pic,, I wish I had a king cab to bridge that roughly 8" gap that I will be cutting out (with the springs and all, unable to shift the axle much). I have thrown around the idea of a custom bed, maybe even a flat bed to haul some quads around etc.. I do have access to a few 720 frames and that was originally my first option but not currently having a 4 wheel driver, that idea sounded good.. It will definately take some mods but I am finding it interesting in learning all of this for the first time much like my tranny swap in my toyota... good experience... So tomorrow I will see how things line up with the cab mounts and bed.. take a few pics and see where I am at... How did that luv ride on the scout?
  7. Well, spent the day yanking off the cab and bed... The engine is an L18... eyeballing the tranny, it seems that they are similiar.. I should know tomorrow on that one,, I think I may just use an engine out of an 87 Nissan 720 (carb), and bolt that up to that pathfinder tranny....I will also know tomorrow about mounts.. my friend at work said we might need to cut a couple of the side cab mounts from the original datsun frame and weld them to the pathfinder frame...
  8. you could very well be right,,, I will know tomorrow when I rip off the body of the datsun.... I was going by what the guys at work said that it should bolt up... everything seems to be in the right place when looking at it,,,,
  9. the pathfinder was a driver however the engine blew... tranny is good though,,,,I had 85 and 86 nissan pickups to use as 2wd option however I thought the 4wd idea was good and unique. I have a few 6 and 8 cyl engines available to swap out if the engine doesnt have enough go to it.. I didnt wanna ever use it for 4wheelin or anything, just need something to drive up in the mountains. its also a 5spd tranny (if that matters).. I am new to the mechincs world outside of the typical changing of brakes, starter, radiator etc.. I just started learning all this from the guys at work. A few months ago was my first ever major project and I took my 97 Toyota tercel (automatic) and converted it to a manual 5 speed from donor parts car (84 tercel)... runs great... so that was my first project ever.... oh, I will need to cut the drive as well...I WILL check on that L20 or L16 with the guys tomorrow,, thanks for the good info!!.. Btw, love the project links you posted on this link,,,, sweet rides!!!
  10. I also read your older post and seen that you mentioned the 720 working and lining up.. That was my first option until the folks at work said "why don't you make it a 4wd"...So that got me in more work! lol
  11. Great looking rig!! I will let you know about those radiator mounts hopefull by the end of the week. I do know for sure that approximately 8 inches of the Pathfinder frame needs cut, I am adding power steering and probably the lift kit, as well as putting the transmission on to my datsun engine...Hope I did this picture thing right,, will see in a sec!! here is the datsun I picked up here is the donor pathfinder and frame...
  12. Hello all! New to the site today however I have been reading threads posted from everyone over the pasy few months. I was debating doing the drum to ABS swap and decided to do a body swap instead...I am putting the body on an 87 Nissan pathfinder 4wd. Helps out people like myself (not much mechanically inclined however always learning lol)
