  1. haha epic fail! ahhh well problem solved. I had the plugs on engine going clockwise not counter clockwise.... lol ahh thanks for the help!!!!
  2. After returning from lunch. started it up. she doesn't want to start right away. I have to crank on it for 5-10 seconds and then she spits sputters and backfires. once running she idles fine but will sputter every now and again. I double checked the plug wires on the cap. they are 1342. now its not throttling up when I turn the throttle dial.
  3. Installed new distributor. engine starts and runs like crap I have one cylinder backfire. I took and re timed the engine. put the engine at 5 degrees TDC then stabbed the distributor at #1 still same issue. when I advance the engine it runs better but the backfire is more often and sounds like its on two cylinders not one. when retarding the engine all cylinders run with no backfire. But, it acts like its running rich and has a fuel knock like improper combustion. NOT a push tube or rod. after running a few minutes either retarded or advanced the engine will die. going to go to lunch to think on it.
  4. Thanks! I went back and double checked the wiring as you suggested and still nothing. I have come to the conclusion that it is either the electronic ignition module or the distributer itself. I will follow up with status after replacing distributer.
  5. Did you also replace your throw out bearing? Was it making any noises before this issue happened?
  6. I have a street sweeper that has a Nissan A15 Auxillary engine. I just replaced the engine with a reman. After assembling everything. I am not getting fire to my plugs. It has what I believe to be an EI distributor. I checked the coil which ohmed out at .03 and even ordered a new one just incase. I am using an inline spark tester. After putting in the new coil still no spark. about a couple months before I had to replace the engine, the distributor cap needed to be replaced because the contacts were burnt and the spring in the middle was not pushing out the pin. Im just not familiar with EI distributors. I called the manufacturer of the sweeper to verify that the coil was wired correctly. I have checked and replaced the coil. I have checked and replaced the distributor cap. I have replaced the plugs and wires. I don't know how to get the electronic piece of out the distributor for replacement to see if that would fix it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need this equipment up and running ASAP.
