  1. looking fantastic! I'll be very interested to hear how that fuel injection works!! Nice!
  2. James, I fully agree. Lets make that happen!!! Before we do that, I'll need a 5 speed for the 69, wind shield wiper arms and front grill. I'm placing my order early James!!!! We missed the last meet in Eagle Rock!! As you know. And now that the boys are driving I'll pull up a chair and have multiple beers with you cuz I know they will get me home. HA!!!! Best thing ever to have all your kids driving. That stock 4 speed has the L20b just screaming on the freeway! Must fix that before we make the hour drive to Eagle rock. James, PM me or text me. I'd like to know if you can help me out with the parts.......Oh, and 2 more 510's please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Heard we were spotted on the Streets of Redlands! Shacks, it sounds like you know the guy. Have him PM me and we will hook up. I need a local Ratsun Buddy!
  4. What's up Ray. Checking in. Been a awhile since I have tuned in on ratsun. How is the head project coming along? Since we fitted the new Al head we have been oil free still!!!
  5. Very good, thanks guys. I can't believe wait to get this done.
  6. Did a bit of searching. But did not see a replacement idea for just the cap and housing. Ours leaks a bunch of gas. It keeps us from filling it up, about a half tank is all we put in it. Maybe a 1-way valve of some sort? Anyway, wondering what has worked for others and maybe what to stay away from.
  7. I'm impressed with the pace you are at. Well done, looks great!
  8. Could be worse. And that just means that you get to work on your Datsun!!
  9. I promised myself I wasn't gonna get all gay and say sappy shit. But I lied. Banzai, DatezenMike, Boonedock, Shacks, hobo, Ropodoe, Keeper, Dan and the rest of my Ratsun Family!!! THANK YOU!!!! Me and my boys appreciate all of your support and technical advice. This family build extends way beyond just me and my boys. To our Ratsun Family, thank you! We will finally see you at a 510 gathering soon!!!!
  10. To quote the Ghost-busters, WE CAME, WE SAW, WE KICKED IT'S ASS!!! Although there is still some oil in the coolant,.l think it is left over. So, boys have drum line practice all day today. I am going to drive the car this am (probably my last opportunity do drive it), get up on the freeway, park it, go to my fantasy football draft, have 4 too many beers and enjoy the day!!!! The boys could not stop driving it last night. It was as if it started again for the first time.........a bit different as they could actually get behind the wheel and go!
  11. Update, new head is on! We just went for a drive. I know the W58 is not the popular head, it is a closed chamber, and I am going to tell you there is a huge difference compared to the U60 I was running. It sounds and runs much better. Once it cools I will see if we still have oil in the coolant. I'm gonna say I'm 99%/sure the old head was the problem. Stay tuned!!
  12. I agree about the black rtv. It's the best and does not smell like that blue shit does.
  13. The last time I reinstalled the front. Over with the head on and the oil pan it was no issue, super easy. But this time I cut out the little oil pan section like in your video, pit the cover on, a very tight fit. But then noticed the gasket completely folded inside where the Timi g chain is. We pulled if off and tried again, but it was so jacked up now way was it gonna work. Not sure why its such a tight fit this time around. But we are very good at wedging the chain now, so I think we are gonna go that route

  15. Ahhhhhhhh!!!! Head gasket around timing chain bent and folded while putting front cover back on!!!!!!! Though I would share that wonderful news. Just ordered new gaaskets again. Try again tomorrow!!! I'm going to wedge the chain, pull the head back off (4th time). Mount the front cover then pop the head back on!!!!!! Fun times, fun times!!
