  1. Any suggestions on a source for a distributor gasket for my 1.6L 73 510?
  2. Watch out everyone, I just received a phishing email from somebody named vivianaisatou@gmx.com wanting me to contact them directly to discuss "an important issue" and to use the aforementioned email address rather than thru this site's Forum app. For our site administrator, I'm pretty savvy on computers but I was unable to copy and paste either using the highlight and right mouse click nor the CTRL+C/CTRL+V conventions to put the full Ratsun generated link in this email. The topic ID is 115677#msg432531 The location shows as being in Senegal and the Ratsun id is "jouyisuto". The car shows as BMW This is posted as a courtesy to other Ratsun members.
  3. To DatzunMike, Thanks. Your description got me on the air again. I had it working with 30 minutes of arriving at the toy house. dgi, I'll keep these links. There is good info there. All - thanks very much. I hope I'll be able to pay it forward soon.
  4. Great detail information. The photos look very familiar. Thanks for all of the great detail.
  5. You're goddamn right! Thank you. I'm headed over to the toy house now. I'll let you know It's an orange needle. Although this is listed as a 73, there is a two wire harness that comes from the engine compartment directly to the tach. The connectors are a male and female so as to indicate that one could hook it up in series to the negative side of the coil. Bill P.S. Just went to the JCCS at the Queen Mary yesterday. LOTS of Datsuns there. Saw my buddy John Morton signing autographs on shirts, books, and posters. I also saw a model of Datsun I never knew existed and plenty of them to boot. A model called a Skyline. Pristine coupes they were.
  6. Anybody out there with a wiring schematic that clearly shows how the tach is wired in on a 73 Dime? I was debugging a problem with my Dime continuing to run in the accessory key switch position. We got too far in when we realized that we didn't label where the two wires for the tach were attached. We got the Accessory and On issue solved with the switch but now I have the two tach wires left over and unattached. One lead has a male spade lug fitting and the other has a female lug fitting. Any help is appreciated. Learned a lesson on this disassembly!!! Bill Allen 310-488-6900 bajaskylane@charter.net
  7. Hey Guys and Gals, Thanks so much for all of the responses, you have all given me ideas. I will post my results when I've completed the installation. You folks are awesome.
  8. I recently took my 510 turn signal apart to fix an inoperative right turn signal. Your turn signal switch and mine including parts look very similar. In the process I took out the little copper colored springy thingy and turned it around so my bright lights were on when pushing the turn signal away from you rather than the stock way. My reasons were my own, however, I did learn how to take that thing apart, put it back together and have it work properly when I finished. There should also be a small spring that holds that chrome ball bearing in place when it hits the detent changing positions. large round "pin" is used as a roll pin to hold the lever in place and to apply pressure on the spring and ball bearing. The copper colored springy thingy is what make contact to change from low beam to high beam on the headlights. There should be a very small roll pin a the bottom of the column where the turn signal lever slips back into the proper location. that copper piece sits in on top of the small roll pin at the bottom with the small rounded tang pointing away from the driver. Mounted pointing either towards the steering column shaft or away from the shaft will determine in which position the bright lights or the low beams will be on. Any clarification or communication call or email me. I'll put my email address and phone number in here but it might be deleted for RATSUN rules on the forum. I understand and don't criticize that policy. Bill Allen 310-488-6900 bajaskylane@charter.net
  9. Hey Dimers! I made the mistake of purchasing a new Kenwood radio that does not have the dual shaft type mounting. Instead, it has a sleeve which is mounted to the infrastructure of the car and the radio slides into the sleeve. I KNOW, I should have checked that out before buying but I'm looking to continue with the installation. Does anyone out there have experience with doing such and installation? I have this type of radio installed in my 93 Ranger truck. I am also looking into trying to do the installation without an external antenna. Any suggestions are welcomed. Bill
