Anybody got any input kinda clueless on this one. Think it's carb related?

Sooo my truck will not idle. Under throttle it does fine and motor is solid sounding. It sounds like it misfires a little at low idle then just shuts off. I've checked my vacuum lines and all looks well there. It was really random. Drove home next day won't idle. Any ideas? I'm thinking it has something to do with the carb but I'm not 100% so any ideas would be great. i adjusted the idle screw and it seemed to idle fine then started driving came up to a light and started idling at 3k rpm. I readjusted it and it sorta idles at 1500 only when the clutch is in. When the clutch is disengaged it won't idle. It tries and then just dies.

Soooo I pulled my dash to replace my "Leaky" heater core. and it wasn't the heater core... So I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else before but.. My transfer case is leaking into my speedo cable and running up the cable to behind the dash which is causing a leak onto the driver side floorboard. Would NOT have ever guessed that one. So now I'm just gonna take it to a shop and get a new speedo thingy for the transfer case. lol but I did solder up my wiring harness and all that works now so thats awesome!

Does anybody know where to find a dash removal write-up or have one? I need to pull mine. I'm sure I could figure it out but I'd rather not break any of the plastic bits. Thanks, ben

Eh didn't matter, took a razor to it cleaned off the gasket that was there and called it a day lol

I don't keep driving when that happens I have to pull off and let it sit for a while then they'll regain pressure. The master cylinder is full now but might leak a little bit? I filled it a few months ago and it dropped to the low line about a week ago so not much leakage or seepage. I've looked over everything else and nothing seems to be leaking.

So just wanted to update this thread and thank all those who helped with my questions! The trucks been running for 7 months now! head gasket started leaking so i swapped it again. Should have pulled the block the first time and done it right but I've got pulling the head down to an art. Takes me half a day to swap the headgasket lol. I do have a few newer issues and was wondering if anyone had any input on them. 1. My heater core seems to be leaking into my air system? Is that the heater core? i'm not sure. Haven't been able to pull the dash yet because It's my daily. Either way if i pull the heater piping or plastic from under the dash it is usually filled with coolant.. now water because i've stopped buying coolant lol. Any input on this would be great. 2. Brakes go out.. literally all the way out. Usually while city driving. Driving on the highway they are fine and keep a good solid pressure but in the city they literally fade out completely to the point where my e-brake becomes my only method of stopping. Would this be the brake booster? Or master cylinder? Again thanks for all the help! Ben

Soooooo the truck runs great now! got all the grounds figured out besides the clicking carb. No idea why it does that but everything else seems to work great! And even with the gnarly block and pistons and cylinder walls being funky. It's pretty great. Now my only problem is I managed to lose my Title. haha :crying: Other wise I used copper gasket sealant when putting on the head gasket and haven't had a problem yet. Thanks for all the help everyone! Just gotta get the carb to stop clicking.

The valves just had carbon crap all over them. I ended up getting a new head off ebay for a good price with a 6 month warrantee. I'm not sure if it is detonation or carbon being in there beating the crap out of the pistons maybe? I've never seen gnarly detonation like that from a non turbo car though haha.

Sooooo my power cable had a break in it down the line.. it was ghetto rigged together in the past and finally decided to fall apart I guess. So i soldered it up and taped it nicely and it started right up! haha So ridiculous.. Thank you all for the help.

My starter makes a noise that's one click. It hesistates essentially and won't turn over at all. I'll try and charge up the batter tonight. I've checked my ground and I think everything is okay. Just seems odd because it started so well the other morning then just wouldnt start at all! I'll pull the starter off tonight and take a look. I wish it wasn't so cold here in CO! lol Thanks for all the input!
