That's a really interesting idea, I think I'm taking apart my Z this winter for paint and those inspection panels have always been a pain, I may play around with that idea, thanks.

That is an old plane, the channeled surface is something they did in the 30's-40's, as mentioned above, so many companies produced planes that were virtually identical to Stanley's product, so much so that you could mix and match parts which is why so many planes don't really match but work perfectly. Here's and old Stanley/Bailey I have, clearly made in the US but with a Canadian made blade. Always a joy to use it when I can find something to use it on. Value? You see guys trying to get $80-90 for them all the time but really $15-20 is the going price that I've seen whether they are restored or rusted out. Did someone say Spoke Shave? I'm a bit of an old tool addict myself, if you want to turn this into an old tool show and tell thread I'm sure we could fill it with the stuff we all have tucked away.

Looks like an aftermarket option, can't say for sure but doesn't look like a Nissan product to me. But still, unique and probably rare, nice addition to the car.

Here's a walking cane I hope I won't need for a long time but when I do, no ones going to fuck with this old man. The anvil is made out of 1/8" plate so it's not as heavy as it looks, the ferrule on the bottom is a spare socket.

JesseC covered it pretty well, I would just add, choose your machine shop carefully. There are some real nightmare shops out there, personally I try and find a small shop where an old guy is in charge or is doing the work. Once you have found your place the machinist will go over all your questions. Reassembling the bottom end yourself isn't really all that difficult if you have FSM, it also gives you the chance to get the block outside with hot soapy water, bore brushes and hose to make sure there is no sludge or metal chips hiding.

No, I confirmed that the ECU is from a manual car, since that 1st post I have managed to get the idle down to 800rpm but it still hangs. After a bunch of reading here, and the Zilvia forum it seems to be something these engines do, some don't have the problem but it is a common complaint.
