Guys use s10s like crazy for this type of build, so I don't see the 720 being an issue at all.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

I already measured everything, shifter hole and front wheels are a dead on match up with this body, but the cab is 6" longer in the rear, so it'll stop just before where the rear frame rails start to arch upwards. I think it'll work out great. I already have the dually rear end and wheels for it too. I think it'll kinda look like a down sized big rig.

Well, I picked up the "new" truck cab. I think it's gonna look awesome, but boy that was a sketchy drive home for 120 miles. The best part is that this truck cab came with a clean / clear / matching title. :)
I also came with the big heavy duty running boards, I'm not sure if i'm going to use them or not yet.

I haven't been on here in forever, but this old rat is still tearing up the roads, but the driveshaft needs replaced. I can no longer buy the replacement and the U-Joints are "staked in" making them non-replaceable. Does anyone on here have a GOOD driveshaft they want to sell? This truck is the standard cab, standard bed, with a one piece driveshaft. I really need to fix this, as it's my main transportation right now. Hit me up if you have one, measurements would be  great too, if you have one, so I can double check to make sure it's the right one.

Thanks...

It might be just me, but I always run isky cams. They will sell you a matched set of springs, retainers, etc. For your set up and will regrind your old cam to the spec you want/need. A reground cam is harder material and will last longer plus it'll be a little cheaper.

I'll be watching for the continuation of this build thread...

#1271539 219 head too much for a L20B

Posted by Dirttrack510 on 07 July 2015 - 12:10 PM

1.5 inch is only a 38mm valve and 240z engines came with 42mm (1.65 inch) from the factory with smaller pistons than an L20b I believe. I would think you could easily go to as big as 44mm (1.75 inch) and be fine. I usually install 44mm intakes on my L16 engines, but I run a big camshaft.

I also open my ports to 1.5 inch on my L16 engine.

Someone else chime in if I'm wrong.

As previously posted, i'm sure a good lock smith can make keys to fit your ignition. I just had a set made for a 1969. I just carried the ignition switch into the lock smith's store and they looked through a bunch of books, used the code on the ignition and I had a new key in about 30 minutes. Find a lock smith that has been in business for a long, long time. The lock smith I use has been in business for over 50 years.

The body longer on the four door is longer than the two door also.  The body of the four door is 4120mm (162.2 inches) long and the body of the two door is 4070mm (160.25 inches) long. I just don't believe it can be done and ever be right, the roof will be to short, the doors and rear glass will not line up etc. etc. etc.

I'm not trying to be dick, just know in advance that it won't work correctly. Plus, like everyone is trying to tell you, a 1968 is the coolest year to own.

This whole idea blows, FOUR DOORS FITS MORE WHORES!!!

If you really want a 2 door, sell the four door on EBAY and buy a two door. Don't ruin a 68' as it's the coolest and rarest 510 production year. Besides, I've seen some of these 4 door conversions and as earlier stated... They never look right.
