  1. It doesn't matter if it is positive or negative ground. Whatever it is, apply it and see what the gauge does.
  2. Apply a ground to the wire that comes off the temp sending unit and see what the gauge does.
  3. It looks like a big project. I see in your write-up that you say "It came stock with an A12 series motor but this one had it replaced with an A14." Stock would have been an E1 motor. A14 is a good replacement though.

Sorry to sidetrack this conversation. But I want to say thanks to datzenmike and Stoffregen Motorsports for the heads up. Just last week I bought a set of NGK laser iridium spark plugs from Ebay. I had no idea there were fakes out there and they can cause some damage, let alone a much shorter life. I did some research and ended up contacting NGK. They wanted some pics of the plug and just informed me that they are genuine. So I guess I was lucky. But I will only buy from known distributers in the future.

How are the NGK plugs bought from Amazon different than others with the same part number?
  6. Would you be interested in a used windshield? I live in Auburn.
  7. I have mixed feelings about that concept. For example Moses, your build thread is now 45 pages long. It started off as a build thread, but has turned into including all kinds of subjects. It is a great thread, with a lot of good info, but sometimes it is hard to find something that I knew was in there because there are just so many pages.

Check your ground on the front right socket.

If you have a full tank, the 320 sender should read around 90 ohms. You might want to pop out the sender and take a look at it. I have had good luck rebuilding the senders.

Be careful when using teflon tape. If you are using the stock temp sender, you want the body of the sender to have a good ground.

Much better with the jpgs. You have the meter set up correctly. For measuring resistance, it doesn't matter which one you have the red probe on vs the black probe. Sometimes it would, like if there are solid state devices involved, but here it should just be a rheostat. You should disconnect the lug on the stud to isolate the fuel sender and repeat your measurements. Try to get a good ground with one of the probes.

The pictures showed up as .HEIC files. Not familiar with that extension. I suggest that you repost them as .JPG to make it easier for people to see.

A 320 fuel sender reads high when full and low when empty. The opposite of the later senders.
  14. You cannot tell by looking at the outside of the distributor whether it is smog or pre-smog. You will have to see if the cam is 7.5(pre-smog) or 17.5(smog). It will be stamped on the top. Sometimes you can see it if you look through a hole on the plate at just the right angle, but usually have to pop off the plate to see it.
