I hear ya brother. Last fall. For my birthday weekend. I drove down to my roommate from college's home town. I just got dumped, after loosing my job and home. so i was pretty miserable to say the least. The first day Im in town I get two parking tickets. so the next morning (day Of my birthday) I come outside at 8 am to move my car to not get a ticket.(hung over as balls) start up the wagon, full choke (super cold morning) let her idle for a minute and go to move her to the other side of the street. As soon as i let off the clutch it makes a loud bang and drops to three cylinders. I park pop the hood pull the valve cover after checking spark. turns out the motor dropped a valve seat. I had twenty two dollars to my life. a basic hand tool kit. so i thought i was totally screwed. got a hold of some of the areas z car club guys, trying to sell my car. dude shows up the next morning to pick up the car ( offering me only 800$) and he arrives to me covered head to toe in grease, black out drunk fixing the wagon on the side of the road in a "sketchy neighborhood" it took me almost 20 hours to fix it. I used my last twenty and some bottles and cans to get a head gasket. "borrowed a ten mm allen for the head bolts. stole part of my buddies washing machine to hold the chain tensioner in. a nail set and a finish hammer to reset the seat, put it all back together and drove the car almost clear across the country and back.(Albany NY to Phoenix AZ and then back to Syracuse NY) before the motor exploded in my drive way. moral of story... I was in tears with frustration and disappointment. but that was just the first of many adventures with the wagon. i love that car more than anything. and i will never part with her. ever. so my advice is keep her goin. throw a cheap L engine back in it. and drive her. keep her alive. good luck man
