I just bought the car about a month ago,someone has replaced the oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, and muffler. I suspect the old cat broke apart and pieces of the brick panel became stuck in the old muffler. I know the car sat without a battery in it for a long time. I haven't driven it much because the dmv only gave me an operating permit to drive it until I get the smog done. I wonder if I need to drive it more so it can reset it's parameters?

That's exactly how I feel about the check engine light too. The car runs great! It doesn't stumble, misfire, hesitate, or run rough. I've already changed the district cap,ignition rotor,spark plug wires,and installed platinum ngk spark plugs. I even removed the mass airflow meter,and cleaned it with the damn $7.00 air meter cleaner.Lol.

Hey guys, I finally had time to extract the codes from the computer. It flashed the code 55 which according to the repair manual states that all systems are operating normally. So I performed the re-set procedure and the check engine light went out for about 30 miles,but then the check engine light came back on. Is this normal? I will check the codes again and post what codes it gives me this time. Just wondering if someone has had this happen before? Any advice would be appreciated.

I am selling my sentra it has the 1.6L Dohc engine with the automatic transmission. The car has a lot of new parts. I have paid all the dmv fees,the car will need a smog to complete the registration. It currently has an operating permit good until 09/01/2010. The car runs good,but the a/c does not work,so it doesn't make a good car for kids. I may consider trade for pickup. Hey guys what's up? I just bought a 1993 Nissan Sentra with the 1.6L DOHC engine. I need to smog it to complete the registration, but the check engine light is on. I need to know how to extract the codes from the car. It is an Obd1 computer system so the code readers for obd2 won't work on it. I bought the repair manual but it says to pull the computer to extract codes. Is this the only way? I would appreciate any help thanks.

I live in northern California, I had heard of some cities and counties wanting to not only confiscate the vehicles of excessive speeders but crush them publicly as a warning to anyone illegally modifying cars. I want to say it was the city of Stockton California approximately 11/2 to 2yrs ago. Anyone remember?

Hey it's great to hear you got your truck back! In 1995 when my stolen 620 king cab was recovered. The Sacramento Sheriffs called me at 1:30am and told me I had 30 minutes to show up and pick up my truck. When I got there I found the Guy in the back of the police car. He had punched the door lock cylinder and he also had a ring of multiple keys mostly Toyota so he had punched the ignition also. One of my slotted mags was missing, the truck was covered in mud,there was a five gallon gas can and three foot of garden hose in the bed. There was clothes, blankets, a cooler and a giant machete that was really rusty. I thought man what drugs is this guy on? Unfortunately I was finned by the Dmv in a letter I received through the mail stating they knew I had recovered the truck because of the completed police report. They informed me that if I decided to register the truck,there would a fine for failing to complete a title transfer and driving the truck on the roadways.
