Hey guys, I started this topic to rebuild my hitachi carb, and get rid of my chinese copy, because my chinese one didnt deliver a good performance, and I think this is temporary until I get me some Weber. I know you guys like pictures, so I will be posting some, I know its not an engine, but what the hell, why not. I got a repair kit but it doesn't match all the gaskets and pin, so I will have to return it tomorrow and get the right one. My carb The repair kit

Ok, I will do as said, I will check the simple things first. - Distributor. - Get rid of my Hitachi-ish carb and rebuild the old one or get a Weber (which ever faster to get done). - Do a valve adjustment. Results will decide which will I do, whether to stick with what I got, do a rebuild or convert the engine. One more thing, if its your car what would you do, just for the record I love the engine as it is, its reliable as hell, and its my only car and I drive it daily(just to give you a clue that its not just parked in my garage).
  3. So I have it clear now, I should rebuild my L16 use L20 head with L20 intake and use Weber carb? If you ever plan to visit jordan just hit me man and I will show you around. Thanks.
  4. WOOOOOOOOW, that was fast! I live in Jordan the country, I don't know if you heard of it or not. I have a 4 speed manual transmission. Just to keep things clear, I don't want to swap my L16 with a L18, its more of I can't, because Datsun parts are very rare here, so what I was thinking of is boring my L16 block and use a L18 pistons with a L16/L18/L20B head, because my options are limited so I need you guys to guide me. And about the timing, I will check it and get back to you. And thanks man for the fast reply.
  5. Hey guys, I searched the forum once before(like a month ago) for this and I think I didn't find anything, I need help....... So my story is: I have a 710 with a L16 engine and a chinese copy of the hitachi carb, it runs well, but It lakes power, I know its not a mustang but I could not make it pass 100km/h easily, so what I was thinking maybe you could point me out to what I could do to improve it(maybe rebuild the old carb), or I was thinking of converting it to a L18, since the block of the L16 and L18 is the same I was wonder if it is possible and will it worth the trouble? Another thing, I was hoping if you guys could give me some HP figures about your L16, L18 engines. And will a L20B head work with a bored L16, and again will it worth the trouble? Thanks.

    Cheap Carb

    Hey guys, I'm writing this post just to help others, my carburetor was leaking from every place possible, so I googled for one but the weber was so high priced, so I kept searching and I found a company in china that do copies of carburetors of some old cars and I found an identical one of mine was tagged 'Nissan H20 Carburetor', and it costed me 70$ including delivery (that was all I can afford then), but it works good. It didn't give me much performance at first but I've replace the fuel valves 80 to 110 and 100 to 135, and not its fast I can top speed at 130 km/h with the old engine. I couldn't find the link now but this is a similar one http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/398207650/carburetor_for_NISSAN_1601013W00.html If you want you can search on the site for a carb, they have different names, but the design is the same.   10. Hey guys, I'm a n00b and I'm doing a little bodywork on my car, my seats are removed with the floor mats and every thing, What is the best way to sound proof my car? I like to hear the engine sound, but its my everyday car, so could you please help me? and FYI my car is: Model: 710 (160J) 4 doors Engine: L16 Production Year: 1977 Thanks
  11. Thanks man, I will see if I can find one. The problem was that there is so much dust in the tachometer, I sprayed a little gasoline on it and the niddle worked correctly (gets back to the current rpm instead of hanging where it reached), and thanks for the hint, PUSH ME LUCK!!!!!
  12. Hey man, sorry I couldn't wait for your reply, I connected it and it worked, but its kinda laggy, its takes a long time to get to its original place, sometimes it doesn't and I have to shake the gauge to get it to the current engine rpm. Could it be fixed? Thanks

  14. Hey guys, I bought today a dashboard for my 710 Datsun with L16 engine. I want to replace mine because mine doesn't has a tachometer in it so here is my new dashboard I really need your help guys in connecting this tachometer. Thanks
