  2. very sorry about pics, I have tried several times to post with no luck. I refuse to set up some image shack shit or anything to do with an image host, sorry. If I cant copy them from my computer it wont happen. I tries several methods to post them but again no luck. I read the "posting pictures" in the forums but seem to want you to use an image host. Ill keep trying
  3. Had a buddy digging a pool and knew I loved these cars, sent me a pic, I contacted the owner and we struck up a deal. Running stock engine with a Weber carb, needs brakes bled, factory ac stuff all still there.. Interior needs love and a little rust in the floor boards, easy fix.. I will post more pics on my FB page Gas Axe Chop Shop or same name Instagram page as I progress.. sorry im working on pics to post!!

    need fuel tank!!!

Found a Samurai fuel tank fit with just a little modification, I had to block off the original fill neck and add a new one, plug a couple of lines and drill two holes in the tank flange to mount up to the stock location on the two mounts near the cab, make two new mounts for the rear, tank is actually a bit bigger too but fits just fine!!

    need fuel tank!!!

Looking to buy a fuel tank for a 1970 521, any ideas? There are none of these trucks around here in junk yards to pick from. Mine is not repairable and do not have time to build one. Last part I need before I can start driving my jewel, please help!!
  8. I will take a few pics of the tank tonight and post them tomorro. hopefully someone will have one i can buy or Ill just make a new one out of aluminum to fit back in the same place.
  9. Finally went on my first ride (around my shop) in the truck. Brakes a little soft still after replacing the rear lines and master cylinder, bleed them a couple more times and Im sure I will resolve this. The front seems to be fine as well as the wheel cylinders. Dropped the gas tank to clean it out, Im running off a small tank in the engine bay for now, and I find it is completely rusted out beyond repair and believe me I have fixed some tanks that were very bad. Had a little trouble getting the truck to go into reverse, the shifter seems to me to have a great deal of play in it to just supposedly having 47000 miles on it so I will check that out soon.. Best place to pick up a tank??? Ideas???
  10. Hose issues solved last night, have one left to replace. The pick up hose from the tank to the steel line is split. Just my luck. I put a small gas tank on the fender to at least start the engine and let it run for a bit and wouldn't you know all I got was a click at the solenoid.. fooled with that for a while with no luck and called it quits for the night. Two days ago it was turning over just fine!! Again just my luck. battery is hot, even had a booster on it, new cables, great connection at the solenoid so Im back to scratching my head tonite.. And yes I even tried running a hot wire directly from battery to starter!! again this is just my luck ...
  11. HMMMM thanks for input, Ill just try to find a higher gear for the rear later. I didn't want to turn this into a bunch of crap job.. Ill deal with that later on down the road maybe
  12. Thanks for pics, big help
  13. Yes it is a stock L1600 engine. The ad says no more than I did, just the three numbers I mentioned for sale $250 each, I do good to turn a computer on much less add a link, sorry. Computers interest me none, I do enough to get by and that's it.
  14. I have a 1970 521 and want to do a 5 speed swap. There is a guy in the classified that has 5 5 speeds for sale, can someone give me opinions on what would be my best choice please. I have fabrication skills so that will not be an issue, but would rather not go thru a bunch of crap doing the swap. choices are cb71c... zl71b... l8.
  15. Thanks for the info, I have set out to make my own machining out adapters to go from one size hose to the other using common parts store inventory. I have successfully done this in the past with other hot rod builds so we will see how that goes.. Thanks again
