  1. I have an early 520, single headlights. i've owned it for over 30 years. It was my second vehicle. It did not have seat belts when I bought it, but it does have the mounting holes in the floor, behind the front seat, for seat belts to be installed. A few years ago, i did install after market lap belts.
  2. Hi Charlie69, I'll take em. Sent you a PM. Thanks, John
  3. Hi Kieth, I heard a similar story, but it was a different car company. So, are we supposed to mount the d" upside down? Anyway, still need the horn ring. Hope someone has one.
  4. WTB the chrome horn button ring for an L520. Its a seperate piece from the horn button with the lower case "d" in the center. Thanks
  5. If still avalible, I'll buy a hood release knob. Also interested in the glove box liner if it hasn't been sold. Thanks, John
  6. Hi Datsunpolisher, I'll buy it. 75.00 shipped? I'm in Orange county, Ph# 714 508 8565.
  7. Thanks Dave, steering wheel, etc. arrived safely

    520 from tijuana

Super nice truck. You even have the two little reflectors on the rear of the truck. Those usually have fallen of decades ago! Clean engine bay too, really nice. Where's the battery?
  9. I need a stock steering wheel for my 66 L520. Would prefer one in good condition, but I'm not too picky, I can repair some of the cracks. Also, need the horn button and or horn ring. I think 320 and 520 steering wheels might be the same. 521 wheels may be a bit different. Thanks for your help. John
  10. Sorry, I forgot to check fluid type, but the manual doesn't indicate oil type or weight, except for the differential. It says: Nominated Hypoid gear oil No. MP90 must be used. (temperature over 32 degrees celseus use SAE MP140) I think MP90 is 90 weight gear oil, which is what I think I have in mine. As for engine oil I use 20/50. I have a Clymer manual at home. I'll check it tonite. John
  11. Do you still have the steering wheel? If so please send a pic. Thanks, John
  12. Hi Keith, I'm checking my Datsun service manual now, for the L520. It states that the engine oil capacity is 3.1 liters (0.79 US gal.) Transmission is 2 liters, and differential is 0.9. (I'm guessing liters here, the manual didn't say, just ends in a period). To quote the manual: "The standard capacity of oil is about 0.9. The method of feeding oil should be done by taking off the feeler plug at the rear cover of the housing and fill in full up to the feeding hole". So much for the Japanese to English translation in 1966. Enjoy your truck,John
  13. The MG-A "B" series (3 main bearing) engine, found in found in MG A's early B's, metros and other british cars, and, in some India automobiles, is very similar to our J 13 engines, but they're not exact. The J13 block is about one inch or so shorter (verticle) and so, the rods are too. I think the blocks are the same length. If anyone has the measurements to the J13 crank, I can measure my MGA crank and compare. If they are the same, brand new forged steel crankshafts are avalible from Moss Motors for $795. The heads may be the same too. When I compare my L520 engine and MGA engine, the heads look identical. The only difference is in the way the valve covers are attached. The MG uses two threaded posts coming off the rockershaft pedestals vs the J13 valve cover attaches with a series of screws around the periphal edges of the valve cover. If they are the same, new aluminum alloy heads are avalible too, from many of the British carpart suppliers. Moss price is $1395, assembled. Cross-flow heads are avalible too, but more $$. I think the heads are made by Pierce Manifolds, somewhere here in the US. Moss Motors is a huge supplier of British car parts, located in California. They're Ph # is 800-667-7872. Sprite and Midget engine parts are probably too small and won't fit the J13. They are British "A" series engines, with cc range of 850cc to 1300cc. Smaller cranks, rods, heads etc. I'm no expert, just an owner of a few old cars, but hopfully the above info is correct.
