#1483172 Derusting a frame.

Posted by sebpv on Yesterday, 04:14 PM

do the hard-to-reach spots with sandblaster but from experience i recommend doing the rest with a grinder. Use POL-15 on the frame. It adheres to grinded rust very well. I can tell you that after 2 years it holds up fine. The exceptions are in between leaf springs where the brush couldnt reach and suspension parts where they move or capped with rubber.

you could have drilled the 2 spot welds and the bold/bracket assembly would have come off

I may be going out on a limb here but I dont feel more soul-less than others because i own a Datsun. Yes its not worth 6 digits but its got more soul than a fucking Prius...

btw on my lincoln 140 with C25 and 18gauge sheetmetal they recommend 3.5 and setting B. I did notice that even then i burn through rather easily so ill try that.

Im dealing with the same thing. I had a bit of warpage with the tacks i did using an arcweld welder. Just got a mig so should see some improvement. I will be taking care of business mid april.

Im restoring my truck which had the hooks shaved. I plan on welding them back on. I personally think they are a key aspect of the vintage look. Removing them lessens the uniqueness of our old Dattos.

where did you get that headliner? I see one popping up on ebay but i find it $$. Given its simplicity I was contemplating at making it myself.
