I have swaped carbs out before and this one looks to be easyer then most but as far as getting it tuned in that is a diffrent story. I guess i am saying i dont want to spend 300 bucks on the weber then have to spend 500 more to get then thing dialed in on the dyno.
A rebuilt L16 and the stock 4 speed. I dont have any real big plans for the truck right now just restoring the body and bed and cleaning up the inside. But the Stock Fish Bowl thing has seen better days and i think it needs to be rebuilt any way :rolleyes:
Well this is going to be a major noob question but is the weber worth it? Are there any other mods that need to be done to help support the new carb. And what should i expect driving it? Better MPH? Power? Response? And how is it when it comes time to dial it in?
Hey thanks for the help once again. I think i may have to move the gas pedal over a inch or two i keep catching the brake and gas at the same time when braking (not a good thing) I blame my size 12 feet but it could be the steering wheel keeping me so cramped up.
Ok so i am a big guy 6.4 and 200 lbs and i am having a little issue with the sterring wheel catching my legs. Is there any one out there that has made a hub adapter for the 521.
Thanks for the help. So from what i understand the FS5W71B will bolt to the L-16 engine but will need a custom drive shaft and may need the transmission mount or cross member modified a little.
Hey thanks for looking. I just picked up a very clean 1971 521. The truck runs great for its age. We mounted in a set of leather seats out of a mach 1 stang and started preping the inside for new carpet. I will try to take a few pics when i get back to the house on sunday.
I am in need of a few parts. and have a few questions.
First off i need to find the little plastic speedo gear that sits in the transmission. If any one knows where i can find one that would be great.
Second i need to find a P-side window.
And finaly i am looking for info on swaping out the old 4 speed for maybe a newer 5 speed. The stock transmission works but it is starting to show its age. I figure if i am going to replace it and there is a 5 speed out there that will bolt up the the L16 then why not.
