Ratrod25 said you would have to custom fabricate the arms to run yota spindles. I installed the complete spindle/caliper/rotor from the E25 Caravan which is .25" bigger than stock for the 720 and is dual piston. Had the system from and E24 Caravan before and converted for better braking. It works with the B14 master cylinder also. BTW I own an 85 720.
Even if you run the radiator in the tray, you would need to cut the firewall, redo the engine mounts refabricate the tranny mount and reposition the shifter in the cab. it could work and add about 40 HP and 60 ft lbs torque.
The L18 and Z20 carry the same HP but the Z has about 20ft lbs torque more. If you go to the Z24, it has 4 HP more but close to 50ft Lbs more torque. The KA really is the best way to go and the price is comparable to the Z24 swap. You will get more than the milage you're looking for.
:) Completed rebuilding the battery stand. Still need to remove some corroded areas under the battery, then install. Sorry there are no photos but my brother-in-law has the camera.
You wont have to cut the firewall to fit the L24. If the tranny will fit depends on if the box is a long or short tail. You shouldn't need to adjust the mount for the tranny either. I have a dogleg on a J16 in mine.
Interchange wires 2 and 3 and turn it over it should backfire through the carb. If it does not then you have a timing problem. The spark and the gas are not meeting at the correct time. Mike, do you think this could be it?:)
Start up and go for a run. Try to keep the revs below 3000 for the first half hour, then vary the speed some what. About one and a half hours of running should free it up nicely. Don't get caught speeding though.
