  1. Thank you all for the reply! I'll see how it goes when I speak with the guy who hit the dime. I haven't told my brother yet, and probably won't until he's at least settled into his new duty station. I'd hate for him to hear the bad news this early. I'm not too worried on the paint work since the car is currently primered flat black as we were prepping the car for paint as our next step. Looks like glass clean up is now the new step haha. I'm just thankful the frame didn't get damaged at all. I'll start to look at the local CL ads and on various forums for a door to see if there is something near me (San Diego, CA), but if not, I may take you up on your offer of a door qwik510. Thanks again everyone.
  2. This isn't for me trying to make a for sale ad. Long story short, the night my family takes my brother to the airport for his deployment, we come back to find his 510 had been t-boned by a neighbor's friend. Really wish we woulda rolled it into the garage before heading out, but what's done is done. The guy did a hit and run, however we're giving him a chance to make this right by just paying for the damage he did. So my question is, on average how much would a replacement driver's side door, window, regulator and locking mechanism cost? This would be for a '71 2 door 510. Thanks in advance everyone.
  3. Car has been retired. :bye: Mods please lock or delete this thread. Thanks.
  4. I don't have time to pull the spoiler. If you read the last paragraph of my ad, I work full time, go to night class and volunteer at a hospital. Unfortunately, I don't have spare time to pull things off the car. If I did, it'd be nothing but an empty shell.
  5. I wish I did have time to part the car out, but with my schedule and a few complaints about a sitting vehicle, I don't have much time left for the Z. I may try CL and see if someone local can take the car, but honestly I'd rather it go to a Ratsuner than some random person. Anyway, I will definitely miss the Z. Hopefully I can pick up another one later on down the road. @280zx@541, yeah I'm not too happy about how it ends for this Z.
  6. I have a 280zxt that I'm looking to sell as a parts vehicle, or if you want, you can restore it. It's an 82 280zx turbo, and I'm located in San Diego, CA. If the car doesn't sell, it'll be going to the state under their car retirement program. Looking to scrap it by next weekend (18th). The car will need to be towed, as it's not running. Bring your own wheels too. Since it's being sold as a parts car, here's the bad stuff first: -motor will need to be rebuilt. -no ecu, injectors, maf or headlights (although I think I have some spare headlights lying around somewhere). -has a BRE carbon fiber spoiler, but some idiots tried to steal it and damaged the trunk hatch a little. =( -P.O. left me with a mess of wiring that I never did figure out completely and it's worse with the leftovers from the bastards who stole stuff off the car. -Windshield has a chip -Right front fender needs to be replaced, right door has large ding from a shopping cart. -Urethane air dam is too old and has cracked in a few spots. -Interior is not great, torn in some spots due to thieves. The good stuff for the car: -Clean title, I will be placing it on non-op. -Mostly rust free, you could cut some of the sheet metal to use on your own ZX if needed. -Tokico shocks, and Suspension Technique springs. -Crossed drilled/slotted rotors -Stainless steel brake lines. -Aluminum bumpsteer spacers. -240sx Throttle body with correct spacer to keep cold start valve. -New clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. -New front wheel bearings on both sides. -Turbo/exhaust manifold still there. -HKS 1mm Metal headgasket with ARP head studs. -New right front brake caliper. -New T/C rod bushings (1/2 poly, 1/2 rubber) -New steering boots and tie rods -Clutch has ~20,000 miles of use -T5 Transmission (3rd has always had a grind from the day I picked it up, other gears are fine) -trunk has had the rear wiper shaved, sidemarkers and doors are shaved if you care about looks. -Door glass, hatch glass is all ok. -dash has only 1 ~2" crack and a couple holes where the P.O. had his garage door opener mounted... -Z31 leather passenger seat in great condition. -Distributor has Z31 chopper wheel in it (used to run on the Z31 ecu setup) -Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump. -T-tops have no cracks. -BRE style carbon fiber spoiler The price for the car is $800, I believe it's a fair price since you can probably part out the car for more than what I'm asking. If it doesn't go for that price, it'll be retired to the state. I won't be parting it out. If you want something, just take the whole car. I took care of the car as best as I could, and I'd hate to dismantle her. I'm still pissed about the stolen stuff. Below are some pictures of the car when it was running. Note: The Rotas will not come with the car, the fog lights and exhaust were something that the thieves did steal, and I still have a spare set of headlight covers, but they have some small cracks and chips due to driving on the highway (my clean ones got stolen.) =/ You can PM if you have any questions. You can also email me since my cell phone's mic has been having issues lately and sometimes people can't hear me. awamori99 at hotmail dot com. You can text me, but I work during the day, go to night school and volunteer at a hospital so I don't have much free time. If I don't respond right away, it's not because I'm ignoring you! Thanks, John
  7. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/2840318906.html Looks like it might be a good base for a project car.
  8. Beautiful RHD Fairlady for sale. Wish I had the cash for this one. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/2851625964.html
  9. I believe someone on Zdriver had either done this or tried it on their 280zx.
  10. Depending what you like for night life, Yokohama, Shibuya and Roppongi are very popular if you like clubbing and bars. The best places to find "cheap" used parts (I say it with quotation marks since the yen is so strong) is either Garage Off or Up Garage. They specialize in 2nd hand parts. You may find nostalgic stuff on occasion. I think Autobacs has a 2nd hand version of its stores too, but they usually only stock stuff for newer cars. If you can get to a bookstore, either Nostalgic Hero or G-Works will cater to the classic car crowd. Car ads that start with an area code of 042 I think are the Tokyo area and 046 for the Zama area, so you may get lucky and be able to find a shop near a train station. Anyway, have fun and take a lot of pics!
  11. I'm a bit slow to post feedback, but here are mine: Chris#51EPGraham: Great seller, heater core was nicely packed and arrived quickly. DREWSDIME: Great seller too. A/C system was in good shape, and he was a very cool Ratsuner to meet in person. I wouldn't hesitate to do business again with either of them!
  12. Oh ok, I remember that car due to the wheels and rollbar. IIRC a red dime like that was posted on the LA Craigslist a few years back minus the Mikuni carbs and it was red, but I didn't check it out personally so it may or may not have been your car. Anyway, good luck with your search!
  13. If those are TSW wheels, I remember it being on sale in early 2002 or 2003, but it was in a front end accident. It was up in Encinitas the last I saw it.
  14. Picked up that magazine yesterday! Modified Magazine also has a retro issue too. It has a bright green 240z on the cover. I didn't have time to look at it, but maybe I'll try to swing by the bookstore after work today.
