  1. FWIW: I'm a 510 guy, but I had heater probs. diagnosis as follows: radiator leak = no heat, low coolant = no heat, bad (not plugged) heater core = no heat. With that emission-fancy luxo barge you got there, I can't be much help. BUT! Skimming the posts, it sounds like you need to give the cooling system a once-over. Well, that, and get rid of your FRAM filter (I worked in auto parts, we cut one open for comparison to good filters, there were insects in it, trufax). I don't know how much more complicated a 78 is vs a 71, but you can prolly figure it out. Hoses to nowhere is a red flag. Make sure you listen to ANYTHING Datzenmike says. And +1 on Sealig's "wtf 90 degree hose" comment. A Hanes manual will help you a ton and you need it. Best of luck.
  2. Hey guys. It seems like even a couple yrs ago there were options (pacesetter, whatever) for pre made exhaust kits for 510 sedans available to buy. I can't find any now. Anyone know of any sources?
  3. Yeah wd40 cleans all the metal shavings out. it gets gummed up and sticky cuz of debris (leading to what this dude has goin' on) and if mine gets stictky again, I'm goin' fer graphite, thanks lardlungs!!!
  4. Ah! Easy. Take it apart. The key isn't going all the way back to the ignition switch, (since it's the wrong key, don't know how it got back there to start it.) You just need a phillips and some needle nose. Sounds like you have some tumblers sticking. So WD40'd come in handy, too. The ignition switch is sketchy, easily stuck in "on". You can totally figure it out. Take it apart, carefully, so you remember how to put it back together (it's like a logic puzzle). Clean everything and put it back together. Get some key covers to distinguish between the door and ignition keys and biggedie bam!
  5. You can make one cheaper than you can buy one. As nice as these dudes are, parts are getting hard to find and expensive for dimes. (see my $500 master cylinder that I promptly painted gold. sheesh). As long as you have the screw mounts in the right places, the build material options are endless. And you could make it look SICK, even with mini-blinds.....
  6. I got one from speedy glass in WA. Can't remember if they're nationwide. Just start askin' glass shops on the phone. You can get 'em. Cheap enough to not be worth doing it yourself. I think I paid $200 for the whole thing installed.
  7. Long time no ratsun! Let's see....did calipers, rear hoses, shoes, drums last week. Today, ugh...Ground off a gravel pit's worth of rust off the passenger floor board and covered it in permatex rust converter, sanding, etch-priming, scrap metal patchin' and painting army green tomorrow. Started an oil change and realized I need a new drain plug gasket, mmph...yesterday/this morning I re finished my snow tire wheels to be reminiscent of the WWII era USSR, they LOOK like freakin' half track tires anyway, why not paint 'em that way? (lil' help w/pics'd be appreciated, wouldn't let me put fbook links here.) Re painting interior trim pieces army green too. Pics to follow. Back in CO w/dad's garage and tools! WOOT! Oh yeah, fixed my stop/tail on driver's side, too.
  8. yeah lookin' like 2 for me.
