  1. He originally posted it on the internetz for 125k. And was then promptly defended by all the fabricators as being worth that and more. For what amounts to an SR powered Datsun. A really, REALLY nice SR powered Datsun, but a Datsun at that. I feel if he went with a 6 he'd have more of a chance of getting somewhere close to what he wanted, but what to I know?
  2. VQ45 is not a real motor. If it was it would be a V6, as the VQ engine family is a V6 configuration. A VK is kinda-sorta-not-really-but-pretty-much the V8 version of the VQ, and no it does not share the same intake manifold.

I dunno. But big ass slicks on the back of a Z car makes you pretty damn cool.
  4. L28ET. She bolt's in there.

    z24 help please

Check pull-a-parts. My old man found one that was just hangin out on an old D50 someone tossed it on. I'm sure you'll eventually find one on a junker in there somewhere. Does anyone have a good set of jets worked up for the Z24 and the 32/36?

Waitwut? How good a car is is now directly proportional to how closely the plane of the outside lip of the rim and the outside of the fender match? Well fuck. I'm doing it wrong.
  7. wut? The L20A is the exact same size demensionally as any other L-6 it's just got thick ol' walls. And I'm not sure how you'd feed 6cyl with 4 injectors... Anywho, Nissan made an LD20 From the Great Wiki: There is also a diesel version of the 4-cylinder L-series, used in amongst others the Bluebird 910 and the Vanette. (but strangely enough was not in the 720 pickup, which had the SD22/25 when diesel powered, while the gas version most often has the L-series engine. However, in case of a conversion of a gas powered 720 to diesel, it will be much easier to use a LD20 because it fits on the original gearbox and engine mounts.) The N/A version produced 65 hp @4600rpm and 12,5 kgm @2400rpm, later 67 hp/13 kgm. The turbo version has 79 hp@4400rpm and 17 kgm @2400 rpm. The LD engine must not be confused with the Nissan SD engine which is a totally different engine. LD20-1 1,952 cc diesel engine pre-combustion chamber 65 PS (47.8 kW; 64.1 bhp) @ 4600 RPM 12.5 kg·m (123 N·m; 90 lb·ft) @ 2400 RPM LD20-2 67 PS (49.3 kW; 66.1 bhp) @ 4600 RPM 13.0 kg·m (127 N·m; 94 lb·ft) @ 2400 RPM Models Bluebird (910 & U11) Vanette(C120 & C22) Largo (C120 & GC22) LD20T 79 PS (58.1 kW; 77.9 bhp) @ 4400 RPM 17.0 kg·m (167 N·m; 123 lb·ft) @ 2400 RPM Models Homy / Caravan (E23 & E24)

    DOHC 'OS Giken'

Yeah It's called a KA24. Cheap, 800cc's more displacement. I think doing something just because nobody else has it is a little pointless, but you'd want the full counter L20 motor and turn the bitch TIGHT to make use of the KA head. Fully ported that thing does pretty good for itself and has a decent valve train. If you could make an L20 botom end live at 10k, that would be a sweet little motor.

They also had an L16 head... or a KA24 head bolts on to an L series block... that seems the logical move there. Remember Nissan also made the LZ heads for the 4 cyl. They're really easy to distinguish from the OSG heads since OSG had the exhaust on the left and nissan put theirs on the right (IIRC). And I believe the 30k price tag gets you a whole engine package to go on your L24: Head, timing set, header, pistons, intake, etc. I do believe that sourcing carbs was up to you though.

The M104 head bolts on. You have to pull the centering pins out of the L28 block and bore the thing to 88mm to have any dreams of clearing the valves, but it bolts up. The oil galleys are directly accessible from the rear of the head and the water flow is kindasortaclose enough that you could make it work with devcon in the m104 water jacket. You'll need to turn the snout of the L28 crank to SBC snout dimensions so the M104 bottom crank pully will fit (unless you modify the VVT and the exhaust pully or have a custom exhaust cam hardfaced to remove the VVT and then run two separate L28 timing chains)... and you're good to go! Or... you can spend 120bucks, get a W140 S class entire 3.2L M104 out of a u-pull it, discover that in 220k miles, the rod and main bearings still are at .0015 clearance (max .003) and the pistons are at .002, get rings and bearings, and for under 500 bucks have a motor that will happily live at 500hp.... I did the latter.
  11. Must have PICS!!!! I'm finally in an area local to something cool....
  12. Yep! I figured I could bulletproof the thing for 400 bucks (all new rebuilt parts, MC Thrust washer, 1/2 shift fork and mid-plate bearing retainer). Given the power I "hope" to see, 440 bucks for a bulletproof new trans that would go for 1k+ elsewhere, seems like a rocking deal. We'll see... Does anyone know what kind of revs these trannys hold up to? I'm contemplating between my stroker crank and turning it 7k or my 3.2 crank and turning it 8.5-9k. Either way I'll probably use a 2.6 block punched to 88mm and the CIS head. Decisions Decisions...
  13. Small update. Got a cheap transmission! 40 dollar day at the pick-a-part yeileded me a sub 100k R154... Look for me trying (most likely poorly) to cast my own bellhousing for this in about a month or so. That could be interesting.
  14. Looking through Pierce Weber and found this little gem. I've never seen one before and they've only got one... But for 70 bucks it can be yours. Looks like there's ample room to port the crap out of it too should you want to do that... Manifold Were's fisch? He needs to get this and an E13 and dump it in his 1000.
