made it to upullit on Sat for my new knuckles I will have some options to decide when it comes to hubs and bearings.... The bearings for the Altima knuckles are bigger (don't have my notes with me at the moment) along with the hubs being 5 lug so I will have to 1. drill the hub for 4 lug 2. use bearings from a G20/99 Altima and several other things up to 2000...... drilling more then likely would be the simplest, I would have to use the outer CV shafts from the Altima, which I have now due to not being able to get them off in the yard (not a single one had the engine in couldn't, get leverage) since the bearings are sealed with just dust shields, down side, could have balance issues at high speeds due to the extra holes in the hub. the bearing with the larger O.D. and smaller I.D. which has a few things that could be a pain, they use grease seals and are thinner by a few mm, which I can make a spacer to make up the difference between the bearing and snap ring which then I would have to find a way for the grease seal to go in. Then there is which way to off set the bearing or if it would need to be centered for the hub to sit right. Now if it would need to be centered I might be able to use the smaller seals from the 2nd gen Maxima and make the spacer hold the seal, which is the way I think it would work. one other issue that switching knuckles has caused is that the bolt spacing on the bottom of the coil overs that clamp on the knuckles is off and the bolts themselves are bigger, which is a simple fix since I can maybe just buy the new parts I need from BC, but depending on price I might just enlarge the holes off to the side I need to make up the spacing difference......

well got another car, my friend had this one sitting around throwing a EGR code that he didn't have time and such to track down and didn't have use for the car anyway so passed it off to me, well with a much better scanner and a day to track it down found that the wires in the plug had broken so I have "little g" to drive now now hopefully I will be able to get back on the 200 now, I did manage to start welding up the rack mounts on Sat before we had to move cars around in the shop to get a truck ready for paint and I didn't want to be welding and grinding around a paint prepped truck so called it a day..... as soon as I have a chance I'm going to run to upullit and get the steering knuckles and start getting the front end together. Have a couple things on the little g to fix yet but nothing that will take long so I should have some progress on Sally (200sx) soonish, have a bunch of work stuff coming up but have a few days here and there. I do know now that a G20 front bumper cover will work on a S12 with a little modification.....

don't know yet, didn't start when I pick her up, might just be a dead battery but think they messed with the wiring since I went to turn her over and it just set off the alarm so will have to get her to the shop and do some checking, you know some more time that I should be spending on the 200 that I have to deal with something thing else cuz someone is a dick......

that is true but at least it didn't end up on the mesa burned I'm so with you, so done with this bullshit it would have much nicer if I would have just found a transmission for my maxima spent a day on that and been back on it....

in recent set backs my pathfinder was stolen on Friday while I was at work, so have to drive the Maxima and hope the tranny holds out till I can make something else work out

yea there is still some still but still short days, but the sun will be back on the rise here in a couple days so you will start getting some more up that way
  9. Nice, wish I would of had the money when a first gen pop up for sale around me, but already have to much going on with my other stuff..... what offset rims do they use?

Well all moved and have my new shop area kinda set up, so had a chance to get back on getting stuff done on the build. broke my last band saw blade while cutting the stock and too poor to get a new one right now, so had to go old school Whoo hooo my measurements were right.... now to get the mounts made to weld onto the front sub frame and a pix from the new back yard

thats kind of a back up plan, using the knuckle of the 07 Altima with the S13 bearing and the U11 Maxima hub, wasn't sure if that would work but now I do since the U11 takes the same bearings as the J30..... but didn't get into seeing if the I.D. of the 07 Altima bearing is the same and didn't find any reference if the bearing bolt pattern was the same between the S13 and Altima but a few min on the mill and the holes could line up, with the gamble of the though bore being the same..... only went as far as making sure the U11 hub would go into the 02 Altima bearing since it would be possible to run a flipped outer tie rod on the 02 but not on the 07 due to the steering stop being right under the outer tie rod (once again could be fixed with several min on the mill) so I would be able to lower my rack a bit more for starter and exhaust room. Plus it's going to much easier to find 02-06 Altima in the junk yard then a 07+. Before I found the info I needed to see the U11 hub would work with the 02 Altima bearing was thinking of just using the Altima hub and drill it for 4 lug since most of the aftermarket hubs are the same thickness all the way around where the factorys tend to have thinner spots between the lug bolts and wouldn't be able to be changed.......

yea I use that, it doesn't them all the time but on some brands, and there is another one that is really good for it also.... Thanks will check it out, I might run into a issue of the inner shaft having to have a different size then the outer (the main shaft the components go on) but won't know that till I take them apart, but I found a place that will make custom sizes reasonable and will do two different splines on one shaft

it's all good, ideas are ideas and they might give me a idea for what I need ;) 85-88 Maxima hubs are 4 lug U11 Maxima, 89+ they are 5 lug, J30 Maxima on up.... the S13/R33 rear hubs bolt on to the knuckles but not sure if the bolt pattern is the same as the new front bolt on style knuckles like the 07 Altima, 350z, Cube, Versa, and almost everything else from about 06 and up, I know the Cube and Versa are 3 bolt so those are out... The Altima went 5 lug in 02, along with the steering arm dropped, and a larger O.D. bearing, 07 has the lower arm but is a bolt on hub. Took me forever to find the dimensions of the bearings and along with google thinking it knows what I'm looking for..... anyways come to find out the I.D. is the same as the 2nd gen Maxima/G20/Sentra/4 lug Altima/ Stanza and a few others (they all take the same hub) found that out when I was buying my hubs and bearings for my Maxima.... Now for the CV shafts well thats a whole lot of fun dealing with to start with, all my inners are G35X the outer rear need to be S12 and 2nd gen Maxima in front, then there is shaft length, just found out when I put front shafts in my Pathfinder that the shafts might be just right length for the rear now just need to see if the tripod takes the same size shaft, and if it does I will be good on those, the fronts might be a bit more of a pain since the passenger side is super short, but a funny thing the G35X outers fit in the Maxima hubs....... I have a set full set of G35x shafts, the factory S12, a set of Maxima, and now a set of Pathfinders, so sometime between getting front knuckles and rack and pinon all worked out and getting the engine built I will sit down and start taking CV shafts apart and see what I can put together and what I need to get custom shafts for

    1. Altima, the steering arm is lower making it easier to get better geometry with less work, there is a couple different ones I have look at, think it will come down to what I can find in the junk yard and still use 4 lug hubs, I can make the Maxima ones work but the Altima will give me more options down the road as far as ride height and tire size down the road..... 2. yea the tension rod bushings are bad but someone has stacked a bunch of shims on the front of the upper control arm, more then likely to try and get the caster back on when they should have just put new bushing in..... she does have the shakes at freeway speeds but think the junky front tires have a bit to do with that also. I have been looking at some hard core options for it but more then likely will try and put my car habit aside and just do a simple bushing install so I can get back on the 200sx

So thought I would make a update since it's been a while..... looks like I might switch the front knuckles that I'm going to use, after many hours of looking at ebay/google pixs, I think I have found some that will be a better fit, so more on that coming when I have a chance to go to u pull it and see what I can find..... the diff bearing going in my Maxima has set me back a bit, I wasn't able to find a tranny so I pick up a pathfinder so I could stop driving the Maxima hopefully before chewing up the tranny past the point of rebuild. On top of that I will be moving to a new house in the mountains tomorrow, the pathfinder is going to kill in gas on the longer drive to work but will be nice for dealing with the snow. I have had to do a few things like CV shafts and need to do rear and front mains, suspension bushing, but she runs and drives
