  1. Last years pics http://www.scroungers.net/photos-f10/blacktop-bash-pics---t1199.htm?highlight=blacktop
  2. This is a must see show for the traditional rodder. I've been making this my last show of the year for a few years now. Porkchop & Benny from the Road Devils CC put on a great show that is at their hot rod shop, Sinister Hotrods. This is not a lawn chair event. You should be tired of that crap anyways! It is mostly a laid back show but it does get a little crazy from time to time and that is what makes it cool. Last year they put a pig in the pit and had BBQ for everyone. It was GOOD! Rock A Billy bands, burnout and a great time Few pics from last year
  3. I think we had a great show and it seems that the city is very happy with the turnout. We filled the streets and ran out of room. Down the main street, Monmouth and two block on both sides. 18 blocks totle. We had them stuff into every hole we could find. We ran out of room early! The gates were blocked off at 2:30 so if they didn't get there before that you were out of luck. Next year we have to have more room or we can't do it. It was nuts. It was a great turnout and the weather was perfect! Thanks again if you came and if you didn't, mark it on next years list of car shows. You will like it! There were 1 or 2 people that showed up. LOL 18 blocks of this!
  4. Here is a picture from last years show. The city dumped this on us with hardly any time to put it on. We only had a little over a month last year to put the show together. We have been working hard this year and it should be a big one! This pic is only a couple of blocks and most of the show was to my back. There was alot of people. We are using Monmoth St. again this year plus 2 blocks on the east and west side of Monmouth all the way down. We are have space left for the swap meet area. 20 bucks a pop. You will have to call to reserve a space. 859 261 2592
  5. We are taking from 10th and Monmouth all the way down and all the side streets from Saratoga to York. Pretty big show. Plus we have all the parking lots. Last year we had a problem with visiters parking. There was none. I got Thriftways old parking lot, National Band & Tag and the parking lot on 10th and Saratoga for visitor parking and it's free to park. So if you want to show your ride, stop in. If you want to look then there is free parking on York & Saratoga St. I keep hearing things like " I'm coming but I'm not entering. My car has a scratch in the paint.'' BIG WHOOP! The Scroungers CC is a builders club. 40 % of our cars have primer and there are only a few that I would consider show cars. All our stuff is driven. This is not a stuck up rich boy show. Bring your car, hang out and have fun. Registration is only 10 bucks. If you don't want to register then take the 10 buck and go eat at one of the many, mom and pop burger joints or whatever. If you don't register then we don't judge your car for trophies. You don't have to register. What we are looking for is numbers. The more the better. Come out and have some fun. I'll bet you will be back next year after you do it once. One rule. NO TRAILER QUEENS. Your car must be driven in. If you have your trailer queen coming you better take it off a few blocks before the gate because we won't let you in. This is for guys and gals that drive their cars. No matter what it is. The Newport Police Dept. is behind this show 100% so open header and less than street legal cars will get a blind eye on the day of the show. Now I'm not saying to do a huge burnout down the street because they will stop you, but as long as you don't do anything too stupid they will give you a pass...

  8. lookin' good. I like the color.
  9. Thanks for the links. I know now what the stock rearend will look like the first time into it.
  10. LOL I'm running a 8.5 in my big block. same for the Nove and the Buick runs a 12 bolt. I'm not trying to stir up a fuss just getting some answers. lol So the stock rearend is a junker for what I want. okay on to the drawing board.
  11. Man that is narrow. I don't want to get into cutting a rearend down if I can keep from it. If I do I will just send it off to Mosers to have it done. I just thought there may be something that is close to a bolt in. Not to be a jerk but 350 horse 375 p/torque is mild for the crew I run with. Our road captain has a 69 Nova 454 that run high 10's in the 1/4. Another guy runs 10.40's in a 455 69 Buick and my 454 Chevy powered T/A should be deep in the 11's. All 3 cars are in street trim, other than slicks at the track and street legal:rolleyes: I took mine to the track two weekend ago but busted the radiator and didn't get to run the new engine. I guess for these little 4 bangers it is alot or torque but I'm going after something fast. What is the weak point in these stock rearends? Ring and pinion itself? axles? If it's a matter of case flex I could weld some gussets and bracing on the housing. Waist of time? I'd really like to hear as much input as I can on this. I could deal with ringing out the rearend over a matter of time but if it's going to blow apart first time I nail it I want to swap it out. Lug pattern is not a concern. 6 or 5
  12. It will be a 355 Chevy with about 375 + pounds of torque maybe more.Has anyone ever blew one of these stock rearends? I have ran a few V8 S10 that had some balls to them with the stock 7.5 rearend. I'm not saying they are strong but they will hold up to a mild built smal block. So I guess the next question is?? Is there a rearend that is close to the same size that I could swap? Early 8" out of a Maverick or something? 8.8 out of a Ranger? welding on new perches is no biggie to me. What do you guys use for rearend upgrades?
  13. I'm tossing in a mild built small block. 300 to 350 HP. While this is not much it alot more than the 4 banger in my 70 521. So has anyone had issues with the rearend? How strong is it? If you look at the case it looks beefy but that may not be the case for the guts. I'd like to keep it because of the 430 gears but if I'm going to blow it apart I'd rather just switch it out now for something stronger. If it is strong enough does anyone make a spool or posi unit for it?
  14. The door was the worse spot on the truck and I wanted to mess with it to get it some what straight. It looks like someone kicked it or maybe kicked it a few times. It was caved in right at the door handle, bowed the framework in to the side glass ripping the post from the skin and ripping seven spots in the skin around the door handle itself. I had my son with the dolly on the inside while I smacked it into shape from the outside. The metal had to be had formed. The brake I had wouldn't do such a close double bend. One of the best tools I have in my garage. The welding blanket that is over the cab. Cheap, saves time and is great for the metal work I do.
