cleaned up the rear brackets then figured out the park brake hookup. made some cable retainers, proof of concept is good ill make something that looks a little nicer though. went and got a decent hood the other day too, got it from a guy putting together a mid engine 620 with a VG30DETT for drifting

isuzu trooper rear discs, pretty sure i can remake the brackets for the handbrake and use it in reverse kinda. basic test seemed to work ok, this way i keep stock handbrake cables. maybe

dragged it out of the dust the other day, back on the hoist for some work. hopefully get it back soon
  7. splines are fine its just the very end is a bit marred. i'll have a look tonight. thanks again
  8. legends thanks for setting me straight. ill get a dial indicator, thanks for the tolerances. backing plate is off, yeah. studs aren't in yet wasn't sure to use those or bolts. planning to replace bearings and seals, maybe center too i've got lsd for it. one thing at a time though the ends of the half shafts that go into the diff are a bit damaged, easy enough to clean them up with a grinder and just run it or am i in trouble?
  9. long time no post! 620's getting attention again and it needs a rear brake upgrade so i'm using the isuzu trooper rear calipers and discs. i've got it all apart, bit stuck with what these shims are for and if i need them. their presence i think is going to mess with my caliper placement, see oic were they to space out the brake drum so it doesn't hit the backing plate? or are they important for the halfshafts or something. i've got 3 on the right and 2 on the left
  10. small update, i've been working on cars and things again and the shed hasn't needed much more for me to work with the machinery enclosures gone, lots of random stuff i needed to store was on the floor so i started with a basic frame, screwed to the supports of the shed then welded shelves to that, and riveted some of the old tiny shed sheets i kept around. fairly rough but they do what the need to had some 'fun' refinishing some wheels for my other car, this pic gives a decent idea of the lighting i made. im going to replace it with better LED strip lighting eventually so the whole shed is lit.

well photobucket has shit itself finally, and it wouldn't let me download my albums ('something didn't click'). i've managed to get all the images back, but all the links in the previous posts are going to be busted. not overly keen on going through 1400 or so images so i've uploaded them to this album if theres anything useful in there you want to see: https://ibb.co/album/m17gyv

shit sorry dude, haven't checked ratsun in a while. i just finished going through backing up photobucket images since they went and did what they did. i'll update my post with imgur links for now for you edit; looks like img tags arent allowed now so i can't give you image previews in the post. i've uploaded the images anywho so but ill try work out how to display images again. edit: ahaaa fixed. i was trying to image tag a url
  15. i've been spending a lot more time on cars recently so work has been going into them and some random things around the shed for storage. i made this that hangs off the mezzanine for powertools and things a big pain in the ass is what i do with tools when i've just finished using them. i forget where i dropped them or they're always where i'm not, so i made this to help i was stressing out over some weld tests for mmaw a while back and ended up putting myself in bed with the flu because of the fumes. i made this quickly so that wouldn't happen again. useless for most of the things i make but really good for small things like welding coupons. the shed went from very hazy after an hour to crystal clear after a few hours. im not sure how long the fan will last, it's just a bathroom fan. i've been getting progress in on some cars for a change and one of them needs lots of work with the lathe, but the old enclosure i made was terrible. machining is tedious enough without being uncomfortable doing it. both the mill and lathe were uncomfortable to use, and their old stands were huge and taking up too much space so i salvaged some 200mm SHS from work, cut up some of the old enclosures for 20mm and 30mm SHS and made much smaller, much higher much easier access stands for both machines. makes a massive difference. they wobble a little so i need to brace some things but overall they work fine. since i'm losing the old enclosures i've also lost some of the storage space they had. i was planning on getting aluminium for these yesterday but the place i go is closed over christmas. here's what i had in mind anyway, shelves that don't go to the floor so i still have the space to manouvre cars on dollys around the shed as i need to. i'll get a light under the shelf near the lathe too so i can see what tolerances i'm going over.
