I just did my 79KC and it was super easy. There are a few write-ups here that you will want to search for and they lay it out very well. The one thing I will recommend is better front shocks. I had a good set of monroe gas shocks up front and they weren't enough (maybe the KC?) and I went with the KYB GR2 and they are better. I wish I had gotten the KYB Gas-A-Just though, but not sure if they make it for our trucks.
I just learned that despite what they say a lowered Datsun 620KC does great in the snow. We just got pumbled by 2 to 3 feet of snow here in Maryland and the old datsun did great. I drove it everywhere! Maybe I should install a snowplow? hehe I took a couple pics.
Sorry I didn't get any action shots... But I think school was closed :D
I wasn't able to hit mine off, it required some persuasion... I put the nut on and hit it with a brass-faced hammer while pulling on the wheel. It got the job dun.
I lubed the heck out of everything, but my blinker switch still doesn't return on the left, but it's allot smoother
DatDoug, that's funny right there :)
I felt around behind the wheel and didn't feel any screws, Ill look harder or un-clip it. Shouldn't be a biggie.
Thanks guys,
Drew
Ok this is probably a stupid question, but I don't want to tear up my stock steering wheel, but how do I remove the stock wheel? Do I have to pry out the dastsun emblem to get to the nut?
I have tried searching, but came up with nothing.
My blinker leaver is getting hard to move and doesn't return on one side.
Hopefully a pic :)
Pirate4x4 forums is the best place to go for that 22re. Sounds normal though. That AC unit is going to create a drag on the motor and possibly kill it at stops. Toyotas fix was probably some sort of idle up solenoid like on an auto to prevent that.
Hey guys, I just figured out my problem.
The spindles did cause the problem. The drivers side spindle was bent!!:( I took it in to be aligned just to be sure and they agreed that the spindle was bent. Just put a different one on and it's great.
I did some measuring on the hubs with my tape measure and my micrometer eye ball :) and the hubs looked the same to me. The only difference is the seal off the d21 doesn't really fit the 620 hub correctly, but close enough for me.
Thanks again for the help.
What's the benefit to the Anti Dieseling Solenoid? I have one doesn't have it... I'm thinking about getting a new one since I can't seem to get the accelerator pump to work.
That's the thing. If indeed it is from an 80 car. All I have to go from is the guy said... and an old truck shifter works in it. Seems like I read somewhere that the shifters changed in 80, but I could be off
I just swapped it out of my 79 kc for an 80 280z tranny. I'm not sure tho if I have the taller 5th or not. From what I have read 1980 could be either.
If you want it I have everything you need. You will have to put in a tranny cooler or buy an auto radiator since the stock lines fed through my radiator. It was starting to slip a little bit, but wasn't to bad.
Thanks for your help guys. Im going to check out the hubs more closely. I just looked and saw that the wheel bearings were the same and assumed that they would be the same. Ill throw the HB hubs on my lathe and make them fit:D
]2eDeYe - Im running stock 14in rims so the hubcentric on the HB hubs is too big. That's why I'm running the stock hubs. I actually had the HB hubs on the first time and took them off because my stockers didn't fit.
I think im going to replace the tirods before having it aligned. Should I remove the shims before the alignment or will they do that?
