  1. I figured it was about time I started a post on here to show everyone the new project that I snagged from the deep caverns of craigslist last month. I picked up a 1979 Datsun 210 for $300 towed to my house off of craigslist. The ad had NO information about the car and simply a picture, name, and number. The guy I purchased the car from was trying to clean off his dad's land after he passed away and this car had been sitting there for 15 years. Interestingly, when I went to look up the address to get to the guys house on google, you could clearly see the car sitting in a back pasture in the same position when I went to see it. The car has some minor damage in the front end from putting it in a ditch in the pasture but nothing that is going to deter me from building the drag car which I have planned. The frame is still straight and it is AMAZING how little rust this car has, they really caked on the undercoating from the factory. Well after I got it towed to the house (he did this for free with his car haulder) I started ripping out the nasty interior which was full of wasps, spiders, and a few snake skins. I have attempted to salvage any interior parts as well to resell on here as I know the 210 parts are getting ridiculous to find anymore in the States. After that I decided to see if I could get the engine to start, it wasn't seized as the fan would crank over the motor freely. I checked the oil, looked good, still had water in the radiator, and no wasps nests in the intake box. After picking up a new battery from Wal-Mart I put it in, pulled the fuel hose (didn't want to run nasty gas through the engine), and sprayed in some starter fluid....the damn thing started right up! Amazing, 15 years of sitting and the little A14 still cranks away. The goal for the car is to build a 4g63 swapped motor with a th350 transmission and a ford 8.8 rear end. I have been racing DSMs for a few years now and feel quite confident in the engine and the power that I can pull out of it fairly easily. For now I will be gutting the car to work on the body and drivetrain, after the rear end and engine gets mounted I will send it off to get caged with an NHRA certified cage before I start to work on the exterior of the car. I find it quite pleasing to take this thing to the track, moss and all, and spank some unsuspecting drivers. I should have the motor and tranny pulled by next week and will have it posted up for sale if anyone is looking for a complete drivetrain for their cars. If you guys see ANY parts that you may be interested please let me know and I can pull it and sell it to you. Most of the interior is shot but the gauges, etc. work. And all of the engine components are all there as well as relays and electrical.
