Cool, thanks guys. Does anyone know exactly how the secondary butterfly works on the hitachi carbs? I know it uses vacuum to function, but thats all. I'm pretty sure the secondary doesn't work on my stock hitachi, going 3/4 throttle felt no different from going full throttle. Is there a way to check to see if the secondary works?

How's it going guys. I have a carb question. Will a stock L18 carb from a 74 620 work on a L20B from a 75 620? I pulled a comeplete engine from my local scrap yard, and the L20B didn't have the carb on it. I like the oem hitachi carb and would like to run the one on my L18 if possible. I figure the carb will need to be properly jetted to work but is that all it will need? Or are there more differences that i don't know about. My buddy has a L20B in his truck that has the stock hitachi carb on it, and they look pretty identical except for the bowl glass on the front of the carb. I also plan to have the L20B bored .30 over before i swap it in. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Harlow426- Okay i'll try setting my idle low and readjusting the idle a/f, and check for burrs and polish. Dr.feltersnatch- I don't think i have any any vacuum leaks but i will double check, i locked everything down pretty tight. Datzenmike- I locked everything down super tight and used blue locktight. My fuel filter isn't new but it only has like 10k miles on it. Should i replace it? Banzai510- My fuel filter is clear, and there is debris in there for sure. If i shake it small black debris swirls around. Kelowg- I'll try cleaning the idle jet. Thanks for the help/advice everyone, i appreciate it alot.

Hey guys, i have a problem with my carb. I just purchased a new 32/36 genuine weber (made in spain) and after i installed it on my truck, i started it up and set the idle A/F ratio and she was idling as smooth as glass. The next day i was driving it and all of a sudden the idle dropped all by itself and i could barley keep it running. I drove it home and i adjusted the idle A/F ratio, and i had to back the screw out 2 full revolutions to get it to idle good again. So i drove it and it seemed fine. Then 2 days later the idle suddenly dropped all by itself again and i could barley keep it running to get it home. Then i had to adjust the idle A/F ratio screw 2 full turns back in to where i had it set before to get it to idle smooth again. I've never heard of a carb doing this before, could anyone give me some advice on what is wrong? Or how to possibly fix this? My truck is a 74 620 with the L18 engine. Thank you.

Thanks for the replies guys! I appreciate it. How big of a hole would i need to drill in the thermostat? And what spot on the thermostat would be the best spot to drill the hole?

Hello everyone, i think you guys would know more about this then me. Do you need the steel coolant piping that comes from the intake manifold and goes to the thermostat housing and goes to the right side of the timing cover? The piping is very rusty and looks like its about to eat through. I noticed the L16 motors don't have the coolant piping, so i was wondering if i could delete the coolant piping and run my motor like they have their motors set up. My truck is a 74 620 with the L18 motor. Would this cause problems of any kind? Thanks.

Wont a lot of other 5-speeds bolt to the ka24de motor with no modifying?

Its kind of hard for me to imagine going to a wrecking yard and finding a complete ka24de that hasnt been picked apart. What route would you guys go about putting one together? Would you guys just keep searching junk yards/pick a part yards until you found everything in one vehicle? Or would you buy everything separate? Thanks.

Okay, thanks. What years of nissan vehicles would have a ka24de that i could pull from? Im not as familiar with newer nissans.

Hey guys, so i want to do the ka24de engine swap for my 74 620, but im a little confused about the computer system part of it. When i buy a ka24de do i have to have the computer that came with that engine originally? Or can i use any ka24de computer? I would also like it to have an automatic trans. Thanks.

How do i top it off with oil once i get it back together? Is there a fill hole? And is the seal hard to replace? Thanks.

How do i check the oil in it? Do i need to remove the metal plate on top?

Hey guys, is there a way to change the oil in the steering gear box in my 74 620? Ive noticed its seeped a lot out and it looks pretty dark. I doubt it has ever been changed. Thanks.
