I see what your saying Datzenmike and it makes alot of sense. i didn't think of it that way. Is the angle of the trans going to effect the transplant? I'm only going to be able to do this swap if my friend goes through with putting a 327 in his 86.5 4x4. (Not keeping it 4x4 though.) Denveratsun you have me pegged, i do love hearing them wind up.:D

Thanks for the info. I did some more research and realized that there's not that big of a horsepower difference between the two is the swap still worth it? Also which tranny is a bolt in with a speedo? 2wd 720? Or would that be a long tail?

I know this question has been beat into the ground but... I have a 1973 datsun 620 stock. A friend might be getting rid of freshly rebuilt z24 and 4x4 5 spd tranny. I was wandering what would be involved in making the swap. I looked around but couldnt really find anything. If this is going to be to much of a pain whats the easiest and/or best 5 speed swap. I dont know of any driveshaft places near where i live so that may be a limiting factor. I personally would prefer an l20. What I'm looking for is speed with the economy and streetability of overdrive.
