Finally pulled my finger out and dragged the Datsun out of storage. It's now in the big garage and obviously the first thing to do was remove the 15X8 BBS wheels that don't fit (unless you use loads of wheel spacers and have them sticking out of the arches like the previous owner did) and try three sets of wheels that do fit. Don't fit: Better fit: And got lots to do to it...
Yes Dave, and that is the challenge. Easier than finding a unicorn though. I'm going to refurb the 280ZX caliper for now and will keep looking for a solution.
Charlie
Cool, thanks for the info. Cross drilled and vented rotors? Same spec as standard 280ZX discs mounting on the inside of the hub using four tabs?
I just fitted the wheel over the caliper onto the strut and it looks like it will fit with the corners ground down so I will stick with the stock callipers.
Charlie
I think the excessive offset difference means the MG calipers wont work.
I'll use the 280ZX stock caliper if I have to but was wondering if there is a four piston caliper or kit that I can use. I'll keep an eye out...

4 pot calipers from MG Metro Turbo:

They suit a 20mm thick vented disc and have 3.5" mounting.
Charlie
I am not using Libres and my offset is not 0. I'm trying to ask Ratsun members about brake fitment under 13" wheels, not if my wheels will fit ;-)
Apart from 280ZX calipers, has anybody got any real world experience of fitting four pot calipers inside 13" wheels?
Those that race 510s, do you race with the stock 280ZX caliper on the front?
Charlie
I have a 510 with stock front struts, and a pair of 280ZX struts waiting to go on. I am looking for good quality front brakes that fit under 13" wheels (13 X 7" in this case).
I have done loads of research and reading and haven't found a simple solution.
280ZX standard brakes work with some grinding.
I am looking at MG Metro Turbo calipers (you don't get them in the US but they are 4 pot AP calipers that fit under 13"s and have 3.5" mounting and 20mm disc width).
Wilwood Dynalite Narrow doesn't seem to fit easily.
Has anybody done this with a budget caliper? I reckon I can make brackets.
Thanks all,
Charlie
I had no brake booster on a Ford race car recently and its fine. You just press the pedal hard! No probs. If you find its too hard you could fit a booster in future but for now keep it simple.
Charlie
Jaredperry, I know the thread is a few months old but have sent you a mwssage about the brackets. How much does it space the caliper out, and what Willwood caliper is it designed for? Also what disc are you using?
Thanks,
Charlie
I have been thinking about what restoration to do on the back lights on my coupe. Looking at this one they have done it wrong I think in that the whole thing has been rechromed, but the original back light is chrome with some blacked out areas. I guess the best thing to do it to have it rechromed then paint the black areas back in.
