  1. Yea, I know my speedo is off. The dude I bought the truck from put on 30's (I think) and didn't calibrate, but the engine is going to shit quickly. I may just do the KA24E swap and be done with it. I was hoping to make this a little more fun, but life gets in the way I guess. A KA24e with a mild cam and exhaust should be plenty to get out of it's own way This is my first Nissan/Datsun, so please excuse y ignorance, but I think I read somewhere that cams and performance parts in general aren't easy to come by, is this the case? If so, what's the solution, custom grinds and ratrod hustling?
  2. Thanks for the feedback. To blanket cover the comments, I would also like the truck to be more fun as well. I'm not just insecure and wanting to get out of peoples way. As for how nice I would like it, I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a quality swap. I know Rangers get 5.0's all the time and S10 fit 5.7's. I'm just looking for a swap that would yield decent power and could be a fun project. Regarding experience, This would be a project/ excuse for my dad and I to hang out. I know my way around an engine decently and he was a mechanic/shop owner for close to 35 years. We can both weld alright and his next door neighbor is a retired master welder and fab/body man. We would be okay on ability I think. But again, I'm not looking for a nightmare project, just something a little different that could be fun. I'm open to other suggestions. This was just an idea since I'm kind of a mustang guy and my best friend manages a Mustang performance shop, parts would be cheap.
  3. I've noticed that there have been a few people able to fit a Mustang 5.0 into these trucks. I was wondering if anyone could give some insight on the difficulty in making it fit and work properly. I acquired a 1983 NIssan KC 4x4 the other day. It has a tired original Z24 in it. The original intent was to make it my economical daily driver; my truck when I need one; and a way to go camping and what not. My current daily in a 2002 Mustang GT with some goodies that I've added over the past 8 years. Anyways, I thought I would be happy with a little 4cyl, but I regularly receive the bird for slowing up others on the road and to be honest it's a hard transition from driving my car. I'd like to fit a fairly stock 5.0 in there for some power while remaining on a tight budget. Can anyone give me some info on how much of an undertaking swapping in a 5.0 would be? I appreciate any insight James
