  1. Bwaaaahhaaaaahhahahahahahahahha You talking to the hijacker or me?
  2. Ah I get it, sorry I misunderstood. You mean plug at the distributor not before the advance right?
  3. Does producing more emissions in this case equal a drop in gas mileage? I haven't gotten it on the road yet, but just curious Done and done, replaced every vacuum line already. Man I hate the 80's seems like their solution to the whole emissions debacle was to keep adding shit until they got the results they wanted rather then re-engineer anything. I bought 5 feet of the stuff thinking that would be plenty and I had to go back for more!! Thanks again guys! Will-
  4. Ah, OK, yes I now have no vacuum advance. I misunderstood in my other post about the broken part, I thought you said that I could cap it off and it wouldn't affect anything but perhaps you meant having it hooked up to vacuum all the time wouldn't affect anything? I'll get my hands on a thermal vacuum valve As for the booster, it is good.
  5. '85 720 4x4 I was having a problem with a high idle. I changed the vacuum lines and capped off the vacuum advance line for the disty. It now idles more normally (though I don't know what normal is) but the idle is a bit rough, gonna check the timing. Also, when I rev the motor and let it idle down it does fine, but when I'm driving and I put in the clutch to come to stop if I'm on the brakes it will die. If I just put in the clutch, no problem, even light braking is OK, but when I get the pedal down it stalls. So does this mean I still have a vacuum leak somewhere so there isn't enough available for the booster? Or is there an idle compensation do-hicky that is not working? More suggestions please! Thanks! Will-
  6. Okie dokie, problems solved! I replaced all the vacuum hoses and the idle went up! I check for proper operation of the 6 million things that can act on the throttle and everything seemed free moving. I then simply turned down the idle screw. My theory is that the vacuum leaks had caused a rough or no idle and someone turned the idle screw up to compensate. I dunno, don't really care since it's working. Also changed the bad U joint ( I'm amazed it didn't break when I drove it home cause it was haaaaaamered) so now I'm ready to rock! Thanks again for your help.
  7. Thanks for that info and part number Kelmo! Good to know it's still available. Will-
  8. OK, looks like there's nothing wrong with your memory. Here ya go one adjustment screw,
  9. As soon as I get home I'll take a look and let you know if it's there...
  10. Naw not yet. I wanted to replace all the vacuum hoses before I adjusted anything. I've got the hose, now all I need is a spare moment to replace. I should get that tomorrow evening. I'll be sure to let you know. Will-
  11. Good eye, yes, it's missing 'cause I unplugged it to change the line. Hopefully after I change everything I'll be set
  12. Hmm... so not my high idle problem, damn. I picked up vacuum hose, but I haven't had a chance to replace. Everything on the carb is in good shape so I'm still looking for other causes. When I saw this I got all exited. So not something that needs replaced right away, hopefully the dealer still carries them? Otherwise I'll be begging for one on here 'cause you don't see these trucks in the JY's out here anymore. Thanks again! Will-
  13. 1985 720 z24 4x4 This was broken when I bought the truck, hoping it's responsible for my high idle. Can anyone tell me what it's called and what it does? It's on the intake manifold and coolant comes pouring out if you take it off, go ahead ask me how I know... Thanks! It's the black thing on the left with the broken hose barb.
  14. Hmm, alright. I just now realized that I should've taken pics of where the hoses went, ah well. I might just pop it off in the morning and take it to work and make another one. Or do as you suggest and just plug it up. Either way, faster then waiting for parts to come in from the dealer!
