The charge light did come on and remains on faintly whenever the car is running

It runs the battery down but it will start and run as long as another power source is involved. Where am i going to find this exciter wire?

Last week my 280z died while driving and i came to the conclusion that the alternator needed to be replaced. I swapped for a reman from an 82 ZX. I was under the impression that the 78 would be externally regulated but when i went to look for the voltage regulator to splice the wires i could not find one or atleast something that looks like the one i've seen. I found sources that claim the 78 to be an internally regulated unit so on that basis it should work. The car will still not run under its own power. Does anyone have any ideas?

No this is just a daily driver, I was just curious. I just wanted to make sure and not over rev a 35 year old engine.

I can't seem to find this answer anywhere. What is the redline on a 280Z, I know the motor is rayed at 170@5,400 but that sound awfully low to me.

I'm looking into options for front speakers in my 78 280. It's my understanding that you can't put them any where in the door because the windows and window rails are in he way. Anyone had any luck with other options?
