  1. Or even a J16 like I swapped into the 320 I had. I don't see them too often but they do turn up now and then.
  2. It was nice to see the pictures of my former car but you'd probably be better served to post pictures of the actual car you're selling.
  3. I bought it from one of the many importers that were around in 1997. The name of the company is C&T International, Inc., located in Pico Rivera, CA. They're still around but they can't get the J16 anymore. I don't know where you find one nowdays. It's a 5 main bearing engine. I came from a Homer T20 which was a Datsun truck not imported to the US. The 200SX dogleg bolted to it because of the mouning plate that came with it. (Sheer luck!!) It wouldn't have fit the column shift trans without using the mounting plate that goes with the coulmn shift trans as well as the clutch, flywheel, etc. that goes with the column shift trans. I don't know about clearance with the sidedraft/column shift linkage since I never tried that. I had to get a new drive shaft made because of the dogleg trans and the SPL311 differential (3.889) as both yokes were different from the 320. I also had to do some trans mount modification but I don't recall what I did there as it was 12 years ago when I did the swap.
  4. Hey guys, it's been a while! carl60 is obviously a spambot. Look at the cheesy links in his signature. He/it's been banned from a couple of other sites I go to.
  5. I didn't take it as him saying any of that. I don't really care as it's my car not his though he is entitled to his opinion as am I. I was just talking about people always finding something negative to say. My car isn't a 'cruiser' per se. It's a daily driver for the most part but it can be whatever I want it to be at the time. No matter how you drive, a car with 400 hp/400 ft. lbs. is fun to drive.
  6. My 320 had a 3.889 roadster differential, a 200SX dog leg 5 speed, and a J16 engine with a Weber carb and header. I could drive mine on the freeway with ease. The only problem with that is that is also had stock brakes........
  7. Thanks. Yes, I got the car I want but that leaves me 'Datsunless' for the moment and, as you know, that just won't do.
  8. I noticed the tire comment but I didn't really notice the rest. Let me see, you don't own one, do you? They're not race cars. I guess you could strip them and 'put some decent tire under it' as you say and make it lean more in the race car direction but that's not what they are. They are a very high performance road car with all the bell/whistles/creature comforts etc. I just don't understand why criticism, especially misguided criticism is such a common thing on most car sites.
  9. Thanks for the advice but I didn't buy it to abuse it.
  10. I just recently sold my three Datsuns. A 78 280Z, 79 810 2dr., and a 64 L320 Pickup in order to buy a 2005 Pontiac GTO. Love the car but I loved my Datsuns also. Got to give something to get something. My cars were fairly nice as I had them for a while and did quite a bit of work on them. I'm sure it would make me sad to see any of them so I can feel your pain.
  11. I'm keeping it stock for now. As far a wheels go, I'd like to put some ARE 200s wheels on it but I spoke with their tech department and they don't make any that will fit.
  12. Wow! I don't recall asking for a GTO history lesson. How did we get to whatever that is in post 17? No matter, really, back to the original topic. My plans got accelerated somewhat. I have the GTO and my Datsuns are gone. I purchased it June 19th. I figured "why wait?". 6.0L, 400hp, 6 speed, 24000 miles, lots of fun to drive. I'm happy with it so far but because of life getting in the way I've barely put 100 miles on it in the ten days or so I've had it.
  13. Well, he's a Datsun guy as he owns/has owned a few others. But he's in San Jose, Ca. so I might not see my car (former car) again.:( My truck went to Brea and my Z to Burbank so at least there's a chance I'd see them.
  14. Thanks. I'm going to miss all three of my Datsuns for a long, long time.............
