  1. I finally finished paint on my 78, new rear seat cover.. its for sale, I was asking more than $4K (extra deal for a ratsun member). Weber carb and runs good. Still needs minor things, some new weatherstripping for side glass etc would be nice.
  2. I'd love to buy a piece of chrome trim that curves along the top of the windshield/front of the roof from an S10 if anyone ever has that available off a parts car.
  3. Ok, I NEED to upgrade brakes/suspension on my 78 200sx, just trying to piece together info from this thread.. It seems the best thing will be to convert to 280zx struts/hubs yes? I'll go with 14" wheels that's good. '1985 300zx oreilly part number 9842rgs is a direct replacement on that hub' .. so that's an 84-85 300zx rotor that fits on the 280zx strut/hub assembly? I'm sorry I mess around with so many cars, and I'm not familiar with these old nissan/datsun front hub/suspension setups yet. It that is all true, what's a better brake caliper I can use for this setup (and custom caliper brackets if needed?) and the Futofab adjustable TC tie rod & LCA can be used too right
  4. I was going to bid on it! Up to like $800, but we'll see how it ends in two hours its already at $700.. Not worth what it would cost me to have it shipped to Utah. [i mean, hell ya it's worth the price look how clean a lot of it is that may be 44K actual miles not 144K!? think of all the possibilities... but myself...] dang, its a tough addiction..
  5. I am HIGHLY interested in knowing details of the parts needed to swap, to upgrade front suspension/brakes. Any links or more specifics to search?
  6. Lol, I still have this car! Zur never paid me back technically its always been mine, but many years its FINALLY running again and I FINALLY have the title back. Doing bodywork ready to paint it right now! It is a solid rust-free body I only did some minor repair to the drivers floorpan (the car had been previously crunched in the drivers front corner, must have been when very new- the title is clear, halfway in the middle of the radiator support and the drivers inner-fender had been cut and welded from the chassis of a different blue car- looked to be done professionally besides the fact that blue had gone unpainted). I had gotten the car driving after previously sitting a decade or so at least. Tracks pretty straight. New universal joint on the steering column, new tie rod ends. I converted to a Weber 32/36 carb and built a custom plate for installation of the PCV valve, with smog pump and air injection deleted. More recently I replaced the water pump/fan clutch to get the car going again after it had previously made noise and been taken off the road. New muffler, soldered up the radiator end-tank, removed lift shackles on the rear of leaf springs and camaro-style traction-bars someone had installed with a ricer muffler, WTF!? It has aftermarket wheels and steering wheel, The interior is pretty trashed, I sure wish I had unobtainium interior dash parts. Even a better driver's seat to recover.. but maybe a seat-recovering-pro can rebuild the seat bottom with steel/springs/foam. Installed a stereo deck in my hacked up stock dash & front speakers, seat covers. Installed aftermarket water temp / volt meter / oil pressure gauges... but I broke a brass fitting off in the side of the engine block, so I have no oil press. gauge working now and I JB welded the broken fitting in the block so it doesn't leak. I think about fixing later by drilling and tapping in the side of my engine block, but risky business with engine installed in car trying to minimize metal shavings getting into the oiling system & changing oil soon after hoping to make it by undamaged. I installed parts from a 2nd gauge cluster I had, at least I have the speedo and tach working again, new speedo cable. It is very possible the car had seen 106K miles (and probably a bit more since speedo cable was broke when I got the car going the first time). I shaved both of the bumpers about 1.5" in cutting/welding the mounts, I can't wait to see what the car looks like with fresh paint! Honestly I'm going to finish painting this car, and drive it and love it with a for sale sign/ads up until someone wants to pay me a good enough price. I'm invested in the car, but I do run my own shop building cars/motorcycles and resale of almost everything is pretty inevitable. I need the chrome metal trim along the top of the windshield also! A forum member had said he had a parts car and had this for me.. but wasn't able to stay in touch.. Surprised there are more S10 owners in the U.S. than I thought!
  7. I'm just finishing this car now finally, FINALLY got the title back from a friend's friend. I'm doing some final bodywork and re-painting it red. I got a new Stereo in it, required a bit of hacking in the dash but the entire interior has been a bit hacked up in the past anyway. I'm also attempting to Chip Foose the bumpers slightly, 2" into the body further on the rear and 1 1/4" in on the front
  8. Car will be going FOR SALE, if anyone is interested. my buddy loves it, but he's a poor kid and could never afford it. Now has to be sold to pay off debt :(
  9. Yeah I got the horn button and the horn off, thanks guys. Unfortunately, the '74 260z uses a steering wheel with bigger shaft/splines than the '78 200sx, bummer that it won't work. I guess if you tried swapping an entire steering column from the 260z, but I bet that's not easily possible.
  10. not sure what those rims are, interested in knowing though
  11. A big part of the problem is definitely alignment, always hard with 2 cars welded together.. the hood was from the same blue car which was the donor for the front-left corner of the car's body. More hours today spent struggling with the latch, still no luck. I can actually adapt to a newer latch style off a 95-99 Subaru Legacy, top piece will bolt right to the hood just need to drill some holes in the correct spot for Datsun hood mounting, then just a reasonably small amount of cutting/fabrication to the radiator support area for a mount of the latch itself. Going to try that next, I'm a self-made fabricator its what I do.
  12. Well, can basically position the latch so you can always open the hood but it never stays shut when it should, or so that it always stays shut but you can never open it when you try.. but no middle ground.
  13. Got some needed rare parts on eBay! -gauge cluster - we'll see if speedo works -driver's side power mirror! - good with original glass! Well, scrap my repair job pretty much.. but that's better. -Datsun 200sx side emblem At this point, seriously thinking about cutting/welding on the hood to adapt hood latch style from a newer car onto the Datsun. We have to get something that will work, have not had luck at all with the factory style latch.
