  1. Well, I'm carrying on the torch in lieu of Jeff. Still a college student's daily. Won't be doing much to it besides regular maintenance until I get my 510 ahem. money pit. running. R1 carbs, bogg manifold, mild cam, lsd rear end, rear sway bar, 2" D21 drop spindles and 3.5" blocks and other small things in the horizon. Until then, she'll be taken care of.
  2. Pulling head for the first time. Burnt valve! Head at machine shop Head back home fresh Car back on the road! [
  3. So... long time no see. My senior year in highschool started and its been busy non-stop balancing job and school. I've made quite a bit of progress in it. Already got it running. But now the motor is out of the car being replaced. Heres a few photos so far... So I got the electrical problem with my dizzy sorted out, and got the motor running. It turned out I had a BHG so I pulled the head. Looking at the head I realized it was a W53 Peanut head, so I put the money into having a valve job done and having it planed. I put the head back together on the motor and realized.... I dropped the timing chain tensioner. Great. Pull the radiator, and front cover, replace chain and tensioner and gears with a Tsubaki set. Get everything back together and finally the motor purrs. I get wheels back on and it runs great! Started missing a bit and I decided to throw points out and install a EI dizzy. Now it ran perfect. I commuted to school in it for a while and drove it quite a bit. Very sluggish. Until now I've never done a compression test on it. I prep the car to take with me to Datsloco. The day before I test the compression. 70-60-60-60. I was surprised how bad it was. It drove just fine. (Well i've never driven another Datsun before so I have nothing to compare to, I thought it was just REALLY slow) I give up going to Datsloco, hop on craigslist, and that Saturday I take the wagon up to Santa Rosa about 40 miles up. My speedo didn't work so I used some phone app with GPS to measure my speed. Now we're talking about a 3 speed automatic. It was LOUD at 60. Whenever I would hit 65, my temp gauge would jump right to P. Thankfully the car made it without a hitch and now I have a new short block in my driveway on a stand. (I have no garage). I pulled the motor a few days ago and am taking care of the rust issues with the front end. Right now im contemplating if I should throw a 83 ZX gearbox in it and convert to manual. Will a fresh L16 w/ peanut head, L20b cam, and dual SU's turn a late (83)ZX 5sp just fine?
  4. If possible, would anyone have a FS5W63A dogleg, and manual clutch and brake pedals laying around that they could take with them?
  5. Just replaced all the timing components on my motor, and now need to set the timing. The motor runs just fine, although it is stumbling at idle. The stumbling disappears as I move the dizzy around and there's a sweet spot where It stops stumbling. My problem is, im not sure where 0* is. My pulley has multiple timing marks, and I have a saw-toothed pointer. Im not sure if 0* is the first mark or if it's the second mark. I've heard both. From my vantage point, the timing marks are all the same size. Thanks guys. And, yes. I'm trying to set the motor to 12* not 0*.
  6. Dawa, could you by any chance look for a rear lid garnish on the back of a 510 PL Wagon?
