  1. A chevy. Truth is the Datsun 521s are awesome little trucks however you have to find a really nice one because unlike chevy or ford there are no after market parts made like fenders doors and quarter panels. Stay away from any with even a small amount of rust and or dents.
  2. Probally will look good when it's done. Some of the extreme custom work is not for me. Like chopped tops. Never liked them. But lots of people do.

Wayno. Thanks for fixing my link. I did it from my iPhone and it did not work. I installed some cadillac hubcaps on the truck so I wanted to share some pictures of it. Thanks again.

  5. I used weather stripping from a 2004 Kia Rio. Fit like a glove and no leaks. Takes 2 Kia doors to make one side for the 521 so get 4 weather strips. Cost at wrecking yard. $15.00. No leaks.
  6. Hi. I knew a guy who put a 289 ford with automatic transmission in a 521. It was alot of cutting. He did a neat job on it. The only thing I didn't like was the floor shifter was Damn near back against the rear of the cab. He also switched out the rear end because the motor and tranny combo did not work good with the stock rear end gear ratio. If I remember correctly he used a narrowed rear end out of a Ford Ltd car with 2:73 gears. Good luck and post some pictures.

I LOVE THOSE SLOT MAGS. WISH I WOULD HAVE KEPT THEM. THEY LOOK GREAT ON YOUR TRUCK. HERE ARE SOME MORE PHOTOS OF MINE. CHECK OUT THIS CHRISTMAS TREE I HAULED LOL.
  9. From what I have read 1960-1970ish chevy full size pickups use 3/16 brake lines for the front and 1/4 lines for the rear brakes. All the brake line nuts and knuckles are the same size as the 521 pickups. So I guess as long as you got the backing plates off the given year chevy pickup it could work. If somebody is willing to devote the time and effort. One good thing about chevy products is that there is always reproduction parts available. Somebody do this and tell us how it goes. Convert your 10 inch brakes to chevy 11 inch drum brakes.
  10. I agree. The guy at the wrecking yard that I referred to was one of the dudes that you weren't sure if he was on crack or Angel dust. You know the type? Just wouldn't shut up! Making what he said about those chevy drum brakes seem like horse shit.
  11. I drove my 521 to a pick n pull and a guy walked over to me and started talking about my truck. Long story short he said he had one year's ago and that he upgraded all of the brakes on it to 11 inch off a mid 60s chevy pickup. He used all of the backing plates and the master cylinder from the c10. Plus he stated he installed a self adjusting kit for them. It sounded crazy to me but who knows?
