Hammers are NOT in the tool list for a clutch job. I just pulled a complete L19/trans without a single dent, patience! As well as being analytical of snags and hangups will get you through. Not brute force...

#1561890 Weber DGV leaks fuel going uphill?

Working on a VG30 swap, im just limping the L along until i have everything. engine runs fantastic, weber is the only issue.

Btw, if the base and or the adapter plate is warped, you will have vacuum leak. Is your idle unstable?

Negative

Though it may not help with the "leak" problem, there is a different float that you can use to allow more fuel into the bowl. It's from a Ford Pinto, and I believe you can get it from Pegasus Racing, or anyone else who has experience with building a racing DGV. Use that in conjunction with a larger needle and seat, or a grose jet, to maximize fuel level control.

I had a Weber DGV on my first rock crawler (Jeep CJ5) and it spilled over on steep inclines, to the point that it would flood over and die. I wonder if you're having similar issues? Or is it really leaking out of the bowl?

Mine is just leaking out of the bowl, driving characteristics are unchanged

Do they have any knowledge of the Datsun's?  Are they selling real Webers made in Spain?

Pierce manifolds has decades of Datsun experience.

The weber I have is an oldy, no recent manufacture. Pierce is top notch with top shelf pricing unfortunately.

It just seems like the float stops doing its job when the nose is pointed high, bowl overflows out the vent. Ill need to get a gopro under there or something

More incentive to get that vg in there. Do it now!

Tell the people Im waiting on parts from....

Also check float level.

Verified and adjusted. No improvement.

Mine has done that for 9 years, I just clean it regularly.  I finally fixed it by lapping the top of the carb and the edges of the top  on 800 grit sand paper.

I hadnt considered that... thank you!

Probably warped due to over tightening it over the years on an old gasket.

Dr.510 has the right idea.

A sheet of fine aluminum oxide paper on something really flat.

Then pick up a food gasket.

Where do i buy a weber food gasket?

Hey folks, I have an L19 with a DGV, freshly rebuilt in an attempt to stop the leakage out of the top. Still smell fuel and see seepage. Only when driving uphill does fuel escape. The front area of the carb shows fuel penetration through the gasket, no matter how tight. Carb always has the "residue look". Float is set correctly, pump is mechanical. Any ideas? Experiences?

you better

#1555862 So what's YOUR take on it?

Posted by 68Datsun510 on 05 April 2018 - 02:17 AM

Exposure is a double edge sword, it may spur manufacturers to make new parts available, but also can boost theft, inflate values via the "Barrett Jackson" effect, etc. I dont know if I am a fan of all the exposure Datsuns have gotten the last few years, it always seems to be followed by ten thousand new teen-20 somethings spamming all the forums on how to SR20DET swap all the things....

Frank, have Matt LS swap that spankin new 4 door of yours ;)

Damn, that’s a beautiful build Matt. I’m not done reading it but wow. The rear axle setup is some serious badassness.
